I think Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders, and Thurman Thomas might be too tough to beat. The pairs of Reggie Bush/LenDale White, Carnell "Cadillac" Williams/Ronnie Brown, and Eric Dickerson/Craig James were are very potent combinations as well.

good calls, all of them. I like the barry and thurman. Lendell white wasn't fast but tough for sure. None of them had the QB that ran sub 4.4 but still all good calls. I guess only time will tell.

you are right Gwaltney was supposed to be the next big thing at WVU and he is struggling to even make the team

And I'm not convinced he is going to qualify.

From what I hear he's 20, has two kids, and has had some run in's with the law all be it not too serious. WV and Rod sure have lowered the standard out there. Not that it was so high before. Looks like they're trying to make it a football factory at whatever cost. Maybe convicted armed robbery felon Pat Lazear can be his mentor LOL.

I wouldn't say that WVu has to lower the standards very much remember they have produced such gems as chris henry, Pacman Jones, and Jerry Porter. Porter hasn't has off the field issues that I am aware of but he is proving to be a pain in the ass.

Devine has also had several run-ins with his coach. The last incident was serious enough that he was ruled ineligible for a local all-star game.

I find it hilarious that you are blaming RR for what kids do once they leave WVU, or any school for that matter. These kids come from underpriveldged backgrounds and are given more money then they know what do with when they hit the NFL. If that isn't a recipe for disaster I don't know what is.

RR also suspended Henry for his final game of his last season, the Pitt game, that if WVU won, would have won the BE at went to the BCS, the year pitt lost to utah. There was one incident with PacMan while on campus and it was dealt with, with no reoccurences.

Devine has never been arrested, doesn't DRINK OR DO DRUGS, i guess we can't say that about our basketball team can we? Devine's mother and father I believe has AIDS. Why don't you guys put yourself in his shows for a minute, bet you don't always make the same decisions in life given that upbringing.

RR said no thank you to Willie Williams.

And yes their academic standards are lower than ours, but so is everone but about 5 legitimate CFB programs. Thanks for stating the obvious on that one.

I will not defend Lazear, i think that is questionable signing at best by WVU. He is a good student but a felony on anyone's record isn't good.

So there is the real story about RR for anyone that cares about the truth.

lattedatte, I have no comments on Devine, but I do tire of the argument about making excuses for troubled kids coming "from underpriveldged backgrounds" -- you assume they are pre-destined to have these problems. There are too many cases of kids in these same situations who have gone on to be great citizens. People know right from wrong and make their decisions accordingly.

The coaches of these schools may not say "Hey, lets take this guy, he's a troublemaker", but some are certainly more willing tp accept problems kids -- ASSUMING THEY ARE STUD ATHLETES ONLY . If they are humanitarians for giving kids chances, why not give chances to the mediocre athletes?

Non-athlete kids from underpriveldged backgrounds are given special opportunities all the time. Nearly all schools have programs for this. It just doesn't make it to the front of Rivals homepage, that is the difference.

I do agree that at some point you know what is right and wrong.

first of all, i never heard this, and second, as much as i think he is going to start , he is only a frosh. Can you post a link of this story. Not saying I dont believe you, but the only link i could find about JC on espn was about if he was just a cocky kid or the real deal. if you can get a link that would be great!

Yeah I agree latte...I'm not arguing with you. Those non athletes are probably the ones I am referring to. They know they have to take advantage of their opportunity to change their situation. I see too amny athletes in the same situation throw away their chances. I live in Louisville, who will take most anybody, ie Willie Wiliams. One day, it may backfire ugly.

How old are you guys???

Devine is wearing what's known as a grill. It's basically a (usually fake) gold covering that people wear on their teeth. Goes along in the same category as "bling". A lot of young black guys and rappers wear them.

I knew what it was too, I just wanted to see how long it actually took them to figure out what it really was. LOL!
