Anyone know when the new depth chart is coming out? I thought it was supposed to be out today.

Practice ends at 6:45pm CT...then Weis have a presser afterwards where he will discuss the Depth Chart

Where will Manti be? 3rd Receiver? Kicker? O-line? Filer?

A lot of questions

More notes from the presser:

*Kamara will not practice this week, but he will run, then practice (hopefully) full speed next week. He's expected to play against Nevada. However, no news yet on who the 3rd WR will be.

* Darrin Walls and Manti Te'o didn't practice a whole lot last week, but are expected to be able to both go full speed starting tomorrow. He said Walls has some work to do to get his starting job back though.

*Duncan has been hurt, and Matt Romine has been filling in very well, and could be pushing for a starting spot. Regardless, he's the first backup at both tackle spots. At the guard spots, Andrew Nuss has been impressing daily, and he is the first backup there.

* Filer has improved a lot, and will see the field a lot this year. He's acclimating himself well at DE, plus the SAM spot. That's great because it only means we are getting more athletic. Ask USC how much having athletes on the field helps.

* Said this is his most together team he's ever had at ND. Team comraderie (sp?) is at an all-time high. No cliques, everyone gets along, and it's exciting for him to coach them.

* Direct quote: “I’m very optimistic about our team, but it really doesn’t do much good to sit there and tell everyone what we think. I think we’ll learn a lot more two weeks from now.”

More in a minute...

And more from the presser:

* Our most 'dynamic' pass rusher? Darius Fleming of all people. He and Neal will be the rushing DE's, however, with Filer coming on strong, at some point this year there might be the "Chicago Connection" rushing the QB from the sides.

* Ragone is bigger and nastier than he's ever been. Best Weis has seen him at ND.

* Says he has can't think of any TE in the country who looks like Kyle Rudolph. Talked about his combination of incredible athleticism and work ethic.

* Poz and McDonald have worked their ways up the depth chart and will likely see the field this season. Will definitely play a ton of special teams.

* Ray Herring (remember him) is the backup at both safety positions (what does this mean for S Brown? He's the obvious backup, plus starter in the nickel. I'm sure Weis just considers him a starter. Regardless, props to Herring for hanging in there). But Motta and D. McCarthy are expected to work their way onto the field this season.

* Weis specifically mentioned 3 freshmen that have made impacts so far, and that's Te'o, Shaq and Motta.

* Said Clausen really wanted to improve his weaknesses and he worked hard to do so. Talked about his improved pocket presence (please let that be the case!!!).

* Has has private meetings with Crist, getting him prepared to play, knowing that anything can happen to Clausen and Crist would be expected to step in and play. Paulus was also in on the meetings.

* The starting SAM will be Fleming. Filer and T Smith will get looks there as well.

* Said that NDinL.A. has every right to be excited for the season, and WHY CAN'T IT BE SEPT 5TH ALREADY?????

That last part might have been made up, but don't be so sure. Go Irish!!!!!

Nice to know Filer has been doing well he just caught my attention from fresh to now. Hoped he wouldnt have bad luck like Luke Schmitd or be a tweener who searched for a spot. He seems to be a hitter. Also is Robinson still on next to Young, in my opinion that was the most important and significant move made. Nasty piler driver next to big man with talent should be reliable to lean on in tough run sets. Seems funny to me that the so called experts havent said much about that-they probably dont even know who Trevor Robinson is.

Why would they? All of the "experts" work for ESPN.

All ESPN talks about is the USC quarterback situation, Florida, the SEC, and the Big 12. Judging by what I've heard, Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate are the only players any of them know about.
