Let's see. Rutgers' girls basketball team had Jesse Jackson. God knows who had Al Sharpton, to make sure Kelly Tilhman got spanked. Now, Notre Dame has DONOHUE?

I didn't figure us for the "victim" type. The girl got drunk, and said something stupid. Period. End of story. Hell, she's ONLY a scUM grad anyway, so she's lucky she got THIS far. Personally, IF I contact ESPN, I don't intend to rail about the stupid girl. We're better off NOT resmbling the race-baiters and victimologists.

I'd rep you twenty time over but I can't...

I would like to say that I am a fan of hers, and roasts are supposed to be for making fun of people, I think everyone should realize that she was just kidding, and she didin't really mean it.

To beat a dead horse...to make fun of PEOPLE. Not our Lord and Savior. I'm surprised she didn't go all the way and include something about Catholic priests.

What an idiot. Trying to relive her undergrad glory days in Ann Arbor by being the loudest and most obnoxious drunk at the frat party. And she was certainly the one that the 'wingman' would have to take a sloppy bj from to separate her from her hot friends.

scUM.

(Happy 500th post to me.)

Exactly....there are so many ways to make fun of people. This isn't one of them.

Does anyone find it ironic that Notre Dame was made out to be racist over the firing of Ty Willingham - by many ESPN personalities? Then, an ESPN personality turns around and makes a bigoted anti-Notre Dame, anti-Catholic statement like she did!

Granger hit it out of the park! IF there's anything to be said, en masse, to ESPN, it SHOULD be.

1. SHame on Dana for insulted Christ.
2. Please don't patronize ND by apologizing. We've been F bombed enough to where it really doesn't phase us.
3. Speaking of how ESPN treats ND, where's the apology for slandering ND as racists, now that Ty Willingham has bombed at Washington? Hate us all you want. DON'T impugn our integrity with the race card.

Hold the phone! There's new reports out that Dana did NOT say "F_ _ k Jesus". Time to slow down, and consider whether it is wise to suborn the "punish ______ for saying something I find offensive" movement. The Speech Police are often followed by the Thought Police, you know. And "inappropriate" is hardly a bright line to allow to be the determinant of whether someone should be fired/arrested/ostracized.

So are we saying she also did not say F Touchdown Jesus? To me that is just as offensive and unacceptable. I get that she was trying to be funny and to knock on our traditions...but use your horse brain. F the Irish Guard. F the Band. F Sgt. Tim McCarthy of the Indiana State Police. But don't F anything with the name 'Jesus' in it.

Rules to live by.

Well as we all know there are two camps out there those that love ND and those that hate ND, but with Dana's witty comments I wonder if she is trying to start a new following? I haven't figured out what her new movement should be called maybe you guys can help me out. :allhail:

Well, big damn deal! Notice, she does not mention Notre Dame and apologizing to them. Rather, she apologizes to "you", as if she means the viewer. And, screw ESPN's unwaivering support. Too bad Imus didn't have the same unwaivering support of CBS!

The Imus thing was a little different, I must say, considering the entire nation wasn't even able to watch her actually attack ND and Jesus...it is all hearsay, therefore, it wasn't like we actually heard it from the horse's mouth (small joke intended).

If these women stop trying to be like the men, they would have less problems. There nothing wrong with women being sports announcer. Leslie Viser, Pam Oliver and Robin Robert's has to be cringing by what gonna in on. You might not like they style, but you never seen them be disrespectful to the sport they cover or themselve's.

Actually, EDSBS does have the audio (no video) of her rant. If it is indeed her, and not a forgery, it is the single most embarassing clip I've ever heard. I don't think I've ever heard someone that drunk. She did say "F*** Notre Dame" and "F*** Jesus," but I did not hear her specifically say "F*** Touchdown Jesus." However, it is such a rambling, incoherent rant, it is hard to have much other than pity for her. ND was not the primary focus of her filth; she just happened to see CW in the audience and started in on him, calling him a fat lesbian, etc. She took off on ND and Jesus after that. That said, she deserves to be fired, not suspended for a week.

Ummmm--you actually think that audio is real? It is supposed to be a joke. Very clearly not the actual audio. I'm not apologizing for the actual drunk, mindless rant, I'm just sayin'...

I heard many stories saying that she never said the "f... Jesus", but she did say the other two statements. Until I see it for myself I am not going to jump on the "fire Jacobsen" bandwagon.

Is it possible that a double standard is in place and ESPN doesn't want to fire a woman based on minority issues? That is the interesting story.

I do not want her to be fired, but a lot of people have been excused for far less.

You trash a great university and disparge Jesus. The University responds to you in a very classy, forgiving manner.
Your employer gives you a forum in which you give such a generic apology that does not even mention who you trashed. That sucks.

"I have learned a lot (to keep my mouth shut)... I am sorry for those things that I did do (though getting away with this insincerity, I really could have said more)... I appreciate the support of my family through all of these difficult (for me) times (made difficult not by my remarks but by those attacking me)."

Really heartfelt. You hear this type of apology everyday in criminal courts.

What do you expect from a classless person and classless organization. I'm going to hate to see what it will be like if ESPN has College GameDay come to South Bend next fall. There better not be any backlash when there are F#$* ESPN and F#*& Dana Jacobson posters!

I love the original mission of the University of Notre Dame. Overall, I love Notre Dame. But, I do have a criticism - actually, two. First, the love of money is rampant there. Secondly, Notre Dame cares far too much about its' image. It manifests itself in various ways. In this situation, Notre Dame is keeping silent. I think they are doing it when they should not. The University should have something to say about Jacobson's comments. So, too, should Charlie Weis. Did Weis just sit there and laugh it off and not open his mouth? The Rutgers basketball coach - and team - arrogantly said they would think about what they wanted to have happen to Imus. Well, Notre Dame should at least have something to say about what happened instead of the attitude of "we are above this". We are getting walked on, constantly, and do or say nothing.

I agree with you for the most part. Here's the problem though. Certain people care more about what people say about the "black" Community than what people say about Jesus Christ himself. Nobody really cares what people say about Jesus let alone "touchdown jesus" or nobody really cares about what people say about Notre Dame or Charlie Weis. (Dont get me wrong, I care and I'm sure alot of you do to) but as a whole; Nobody cares what anyone says about Notre Dame, Charlie Weis, or Touchdown Jesus.

Now then. If Touchdown Jesus was a black man or if Charlie Weis was a black man and Dana Jacobson said "F--K" Touchdown Jesus or "F--K" Charlie Weis then people would be pissing and moaning. (Especially the Al Sharptons and the Jesse Jacksons of the world) Thats just my two cents or am I a racist now?
