I was just thinking this afternoon how I can't wait for the season to start. When I got on the site, this is the thread that popped up first. I'm very excited about what we're going to see this season, especially on D, I can't wait to see what Corwin and the boys can do.

Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with the offseason being an unbearable frickin' snooze fest. I've already got the football bug, and not even more cowbell can keep me from chomping at the bit. Anyone think Stewart is gonna end up getting much time at nose tackle?

I sure hope so. If he has any kind of mean steak, he should do alright. Can you imagine trying to stop a pissed off, athletic guy who weighs 340 pounds?

It takes more than that to be successful on the interior of the line. You also have to be able to get your body into a good position to be able to have better leverage than your opponent.

I don't see him doing much this year at NG.

------I agree unfortunently. He showed very little during the spring game and I don't think he's going to change that much through the summer. Alot is expected of Ian Williams to come in and help, but he is a freshman and him making an impact this early in his career is a tall order.

A positive for Ian is that he is extremely strong. Not quite as strong as Jr and Sr O-linemen but maybe he is farther along than most other DT's and can take the punishment that the NG will endure being the centerpiece of the defense. He won't play the entire game or anything, but during the meaningful reps he gets there won't be as much of a downfall in production. I think he was 2nd or 3rd in state weight lifting.

Yeah, I know, technique is important... I was going to say something about it in there, but I didn't. Being big, mean, and nasty is always a plus when playing NG, and he already has one of those three down for sure.

Tour de France started yesterday, woo-hoo!! Watching the Tour is a great way to burn 3 weeks of pre-football.

I used to get into it a little just because I like cheering for American athletes in an international competition, plus it's a live sprting event in the morning which is always pretty cool if you're not at work or school, and the best part is sticking it to the French in their own tour. Especially if an American can do it on Bastille Day. :frenchy:

I concur, although I don't loathe the French as much as some others do.

Only a few days until the mountain stages start, and then we'll see what Levi is made of.

(How long will it take before the number of days to go equals our total number of commitments? A week?)

I'm taking my son to his first irish game, he'll be nine months old when the irish open up the season with GT.
