we're irrelevant as a football program in the fact that we havn't accomplished anything significant since '93.
so what if ty willingham started off 8-0? look how he ended.
who cares about getting to bcs bowls if you get absolutely blown out in them?
we're now moving onto our 5th head coach in less than 2 decades....that clearly shows our program has some serious problems.
i LOVE ND.i really do. but you guys can't honestly say that our program is anything to be excited about right now(and im not talking about our history...we have great tradition,im simply talking about how low we've sunk.)
we get all of this recognition and media BECAUSE we're ND. We have the most storied program in the history of collegiate athletics. That gives us some clout. That is why people talk about us.
I think we can get back to greatness. But it is going to take a LOT.
1.We have to get a championship caliber coach, whether it be pro or college.Someone who can run a tough defense with athletic horses, not the mules we have now.
2.Our administration has to understand the concept of getting the right athletes. Now, like has been said earlier,we can do this without watering down our university, there are ways we can do it.
3.Our fanbase, including myself, have to realize it will take some time, even with the right coach. It will not happen overnight like we have expected forever. When we put these unrealisic expectations on the shoulders of the coaches,it only makes it more difficult to get to the final destination.Understand that even with a great coach like Stoops or Meyer it will take probably 3-5 years to get to be a consistent BCS caliber team.
those are just a few of my thoughts on things we have to do. i know a lot of you will disagree, but i feel they're necessities.
