While I understand you are upset, please refrain from scrolling large text like that. Thanks.

"Firing Ty was the biggest mistake the irish made. They will not land another coach and I will laugh when Kent Baer becomes the coach. The defense is the reason the team was horrible, cause Notre Dame had no cornerbacks. When Notre Dame finds a decent coach tell me but by then I might be dead!!!"

It will be fine. Seriously, everybody needs to chill.

sorry, ty wasnt a good coach. when you get blown out by teams the way he did, and when your players arent developing the skills they need due to lack of coaching instruction, then there isnt much hope. an offense that was inconsistent for 3 years doesnt really cut it at any program. ty didnt maintain discipline over his players either. they were allowed to talk on their cell phones in the locker room before games! what the hell? maybe thats where some of the concentration went, instead of on the field. and did you ever see any emotion from ty during any games? he just paced the sideline back and forth all game. if you think the irish will not land another coach and are finished, why are you even posting on this site? this is for the people who want to see notre dame succeed, not reflect and bash the administration for firing someone who didnt live up to expectations. ty new what notre dame was about when he accepted this job and losing to very subpar teams the way he did, he couldnt have expexcted to stay in south bend for very long. he had talent on his offense, and simply didnt get it to put up numbers on the scoreboard. you can say he needs his own recruits to run the west coast all you want, but other coaches are turning programs around in 2-3 years with the players they have. and i am not talking about loaded athletic teams, i mean navy, utep, utah, i could go on. notre dame has the athletes to catch the ball and run it, the conservative play calling killed their chances. i mean they would run the ball up the middle on 3rd and 6. and they didnt do it once, but many times. this type of football killed willingham in the longrun. the irish have high school all americans at almost every position on the field, and they were simply not being put to use. i agree the secondary was weak, but they were on the field too much because too many times the offense couldnt put drives together to score and keep the defense off the field. the front 7 played very good this year, i dont care what anyone says. but the irish will find someone better than ty.

Long is young, charismatic and a good recruiter. Off the Bob Stoops tree, which is a plus. Might be worth a shot. At this point, the options are thinning by the day.

How about the Millions of $$$$$ that have been spent on extensions since Ty has been fired? I think these guys should send ND Christmas cards.

Yah thats right - but come on look - year one u had some REALLY good Option players and NO ONE for a West Coast offense - Holiday couldnt throw

Y not run option plays....

Well no i am a west coast offense guy

well when u waste talent u r going to be fired...
how about ND recruting the #3 quarterback (Quinn)
No recievers. So he is just looking average.
When we get a good coach here he can turn this fb team around the first year. This year we should have been at least 9-2 - with a better coach we could have EASILY been 11-0 (couple of plays switched momentum against Purdue and USC) Also u know u cant stop the pass so keep those teams off the field - run and burn as much clock as possible. Well no use crying over spilt milk but time for a new coach

Looks like Hawkins is already taking himself out of the running. Its too bad, I was just starting to really warm up to him as the next Irish coach. I definately love his offensive system. I like Chuck Long though for all the reasons said. Sadly, the Irish won't give him a chance b/c they so overly concerned w/ getting a guy w/ head coaching experience. Which is why I'm really afraid they might end up hiring that guy from BC, even though he's only a mediocre coach at best (just like Willingham was).

Tom O'Brien is not the coach we're looking for. Even though he has annually beaten us, I don't think he is the guy we want.
