Coaching Changes: Which teams did the best/worst?

I think Duke, GT, UCLA, and maybe Arkansas made out good.

Michigan I think just might have made a huge mistake.

I like Duke and GT. Not to sure about UCLA yet. How Arkansas thinks they can trust Petrino is beyond me. scUM I'm still in a wait and see. If he comes in and changes everything about the Off. they could be down for a couple of years.

i wouldn't mind seeing scUM down for a few years although when ND runs the table the media will say michigan is rebuilding and somehow victories over scUM won't count in their eyes.

I don't know, with Rodriguez going to Michigan I think that his recruiting abilities should sky-rocket. Getting kids to come to WV was quite a task, especially three or four years ago, but he was able to build a pretty solid program there. Now with the prestige and spotlight of Michigan, Rich should be able to attract many of the top athletic high schoolers. I really think that Rodriguez takes Michigan and makes them into more of a SEC/Pac 10 hybrid, focusing on athleticism and speed that we have seen can dominate in the Big 10.

It should be interesting to watch but I think Rodriguez will be able to build a pretty solid team there in Ann Arbor, which will make it that much more enjoyable when we trounce them year in and year out.

I don't doubt RR will do a good job at scUM but they don't have the players there right now to run is style of Offense and it will take him a few years to get the type of kids to run it in there and up to speed.

Yea, but I can't see it being all that hard for him to get his guys to come there. I keep hearing that Pryor is very interested in Michigan as I am sure many players like he will be. Rodriguez was a pretty hyped coach with a pretty powerful offense, it makes me a little nervouse now that he has one of the elite colleges that will attract kids as well.

It think RR could do very well at Michigan if he can recruit like he needs to there, I think Duke made a smart hire for them, but let's face it, they're Duke. They will always be a basketball school and they may never be anything more than mediocre at football. If Paul Johnson can adjust his system to fit a BCS conference I think GT may have done very well because the ACC is just pathetic right now and they're ripe for the picking. I also think Arkansas gave themselves an upgrade but it's probably just going to be a short term solution. Several other schools gave themselves a small upgrade, but probably could have done much better if they would have done their homework and been more patient.

tough to be patient in this tough recruiting environment that exists now but schools should really spend the time and get the right coach. a bad hire can really set a school back as we've experienced firsthand.

I think Arkansas made the worset move and Michigan made the best...

Arkansas will be wihtout a coahc in about three months... and Michigan will DOMINATE the big ten with those athletes and that offense

Do you think RR knows defense? His WVU teams didn't seem to be all that tough on that side of the ball. He's also not looking so much like a big game coach, which is imperative for UM to have (every year they play MSU, ND, OSU). We'll see how he does.

Petrino was certainly a risky hire as often as he changes jobs. But he should inject some life into their passing game. Not sure how much he knows about playing D either.

I think Duke and GT were great hires. UCLA, I hate to say I agree with Mark May, but unless their administration watches slick Rick like hound dog, they could end up in trouble. Plus, you know Pete and anyone else recruiting against him will use that as a strategy, his past at Colorado and UW. RR to UM is iffy. First off, he doesn't have the talent to run his offense. Next, he will have to realize instead of recruiting against, Pitt, PSU alittle, and some other east coast teams, is he is now going against the big boys, OSU, ND, and national powers. Again, his little escape from WVU will be used against him in recruiting. I have also said this before, the more people that see the spread, the more chances for someone to figure out how to attack it. Running that every game in the Big 10 also could get someone hurt. If Urban is planning on using 2 QB's next year because of the pounding Tebow took tells you that there is a weakness in the offense.

The most happiest school has to be Rutger's. They can't afford to lose Schiano. With the inroads he making with recruiting in the state, they can't afford for him to leave.

Most people are in PA are expecting Bradly or Jay Pa to take the reigns there. As a matter of fact, Bradly has done most of the recruiting the past few years. He was at my school this summer looking at tape and talking to the coaches about two kids.

I think UM is not going to do as well as they are used to with RR. IMHO I think the big winner in the coaching changes is Ol Miss. Houston Nutt was a very good coach at Arkansas, and now he wants to prove all of Arkansas wrong. He will make Ol Miss competitive in the SEC
