Ty shown here singing "This is the end"
willinghamwaugh.jpg

Apparently, some of the UW message boards are not entirely supportive of good 'ol Ty. In fact, I'm guessing they are somewhat sorry for bashing ND in the first place.

Funny, I wonder if Washington will get drug through the mud with allogations of racism...or will everyone finally realize that maybe Ty isn't the greatest guy out there to have running your team?

I've never had anything against the guy as a person or a coach, I think he is quite compitant in regards to that, but when it comes time to get kids to come to your school, Ty falls way short. Recruiting is the blood of college programs and to be honest Ty just isn't that good at it. The color of his skin has nothing to do with anything at all.

I don't know Newc, but UCLA is dealing with it even though Dorrell had 5 years to turn things around. This year, the inconsistent play is what did him in. Winning the first two this year and getting ranked #11, then losing 44-6 to Utah (who got blanked the following week), winning the next, losing the next, winning the next, losing the next, you get the idea.

The guys at espn will propably try to somehow blame N.D. for the firinf of Ty at washington. Something like N.D. ruined his reputation by firing him after only 3 yrs.

Unless something dramatic happens (or perhaps doesn't happen), I assume they would have already let him go by now. If they were going to replace him, they would need to start looking ASAP before the available coaches are gone.

Unless of course they already have Mora waiting in the wings and just need to wait for his NFL season to end.

Ty somehow apparently saved his job. A news channel in Seattle is reporting that he'll be back at UW next year.

On around the horn they were saying that the scUm alum and former scUM players want the school to continue to go after Les Miles. LSU has said he won't sign the new contract until after the NC game. I find it hard to believe scUM is going to wait 4 more wks. before they finally figureout who they can get as a coach.

That was a no-brainer from the get go. No way UW wouldn't give TW at least 4 years after the firestorm ND got when they canned ole Three Wood after 3 yrs.

I read the University's statement like this: "We'd prefer a coaching change but would rather continue to wallow in losing seasons & strive for mediocrity if it prevents us from being called a "racist" University." signed....white guilt.

Whatever happened to 'sticks & stones'?

both WF & AR now report that Jim Grobe will remain the HC at Wake Forest. AR has now gotten raises/extensions for the following NCAA coaches in '07:

B'ball coach Dana Altman
Butch Davis
Tommy TUberville
Tommy Bowden
Jim Grobe.

The latest rumor is that AR is in contact w/ Atl. Falcon coach Bobby Petrino who would most likely have to take quite a salary decrease from his current $4+ million deal.

Not as big as the salary cut he'll take after he gets fired after this season. The Falcons are horrible.

U-M AD discusses coaching job with Ball State’s Brady Hoke -- no interview conducted
December 6, 2007

FREE PRESS NEWS SERVICES

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Ball State coach Brady Hoke said he and Michigan athletic director Bill Martin have discussed the Wolverines’ open coaching job, but it wasn’t a formal interview.

Hoke was an assistant to Michigan coach Lloyd Carr in 1995-2001. Carr announced Nov. 19 that he was retiring after 13 seasons.

“I did have a conversation with Bill a couple of weeks ago of substance about interest on both ends of it, but that’s as far as it’s gone,” Hoke told The Ann Arbor News for a story on its Web site Wednesday.

Hoke said he also has had some contact with Washington State, where coach Bill Doba resigned at season’s end. Hoke and Doba are Ball State alumni.

Others coaches whose names have been mentioned for the Michigan job include Wake Forest’s Jim Grobe, California’s Jeff Tedford, Missouri’s Gary Pinkel and North Carolina State’s Tom O’Brien.

Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, widely rumored to be on Martin’s list, said he is not talking to anyone about job openings.

Carr’s final game comes New Year’s Day, when Michigan (8-4) faces No. 9 Florida (9-3) in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Carr is 121-40 for a .752 winning percentage, seventh among active coaches.

I dont think they would hire a mid major coach.

There is a story in the L.A.Times that says Jim Mora Jr. may be interested in taking the UCLA job.

Greg Schiano, head coach at Rutgers, was informally interviewed on Tuesday for the Michigan vacancy, according to a published report.

The (New Jersey) Star-Ledger, in a story on its Web site, said Schiano met "for quite a while" with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin about the opening to succeed Lloyd Carr, who announced his resignation two weeks ago after 13 years as the Wolverines' head coach.

If Schiano leaves Rutgers that will absolutely destroy the program since he is the one responsible for bringing them back into some sort of relevance. Maybe then, ND will be the leader in picking up those NJ recruits.

Michigan has become the hot chick who nobody wants to go to prom with. Turns out, she's not the hot chick she thought she was.
