Could be worse. Arkansas has 4 coaches turn them down.

True, but I don't have any animosty towards Ar-kansas. scUM on the other hand ... fuck 'em!!! That's why I said that it's GREAT that they struck out on their top 2 choices!!!

scUM is up to 4 also I thought. Couldn't get Ferentz, or UC Kelly either. Or were those two just being mentioned as possibles.

I don't recall if they interviewed or were actually offered the position. Search back through this thread, I imagine it was discussed. But anytime someone says I don't want the job and were not offered, that says something too.

From the story I linked:
Schiano's decision leaves Michigan 0-for-2 in its search to replace Carr, who retired on Nov. 19 after 13 seasons.

This has to be one of the biggest blows to recruiting for Michigan. You've gotta figure that a kid sitting at home seeing that Michigan can't get anyone to come coach their program has to begin to doubt the school as well. This is one of those situations where all those "on the fence" kids are probably lost.

Georgia Tech's coaching vacancy has been filled. According to Rivals, Paul Johnson will be their next head coach.

They also said, it is unknown whether he will stay with the team through their bowl game.

Rivals also has a teaser about New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, and the Michigan job. They said that Michigan has been in contact with Payton. Rivals doesn't know if Payton has any interest in the job though.

Classy lady...

Ok so far on the scUM carousel we have:

Kirk Ferentz - Staying at Iowa? All I know is that he said no thanks to scUM
Les Miles - Contract extension to 2012... must not be his dream job since he bargained :D
Brady Hoke - Put his name out there but no idea if that is legitimate
Brian Kelly - Also a floating name
Sean Payton - Now way in hell does he leave the Saints for a lesser job

Anyone else I missed?

Also does the hire of Johnson to go to GTech mean that they are going to run the option? To the best of my knowledge that is his big claim-to-fame, and what he has always run...

If so, I wonder if they have given any consideration to the recruits they are bringing in, both in this season and possibly prior seasons (if they have had their collective eye on him). I know Powlus was a square peg in a round hole in that situation and since Tech can recruit (presumably) better players than Navy, I think it would be interesting to see if they get some top-notch option players.

Is Tenuta staying? It would be interesting to see how they have that blitz-happy (read:insane/complicated) D transposed against the super-simple option offense...

Who would of ever thought that they would live enough for Rutger's to be competitive. Have a coach whom was a hot commodity. Then watch him turn down the Criminals and the Skunkbears.

Actually, the tally is now at 5:

Butch Davis
Tommy Tuberville
Tommy Bowden
Jimbo Fisher
Jim Grobe

Maybe we should all apply, as all the above coaches received raises & extensions when AR showed interest.

AR is looking like the one night stand after a dude breaks up w/ his girlfriend. He bangs the one night stand as a rebound lay & goes back to the original girlfriend after they make up.

With Schiano spurning UM, which many feel was a power play, the Wolverine's attention has focused on several coaches.

Mizzou's Gary Pinkel
UC's Brian Kelly
Raiders Lane Kiffin
Bengals Marvin Lewis

Wow, anyone who takes this job now is going to know they were the 6th choice. It's good to be wanted.

Brian Kelly would be a good choice for them to go after, so they probably won't. He's done some job with UC. A lot of people are saying Schiano made a mistake, but the guy just really seems to love Rutgers (first Miami and now Michigan). His proven loyalty should help him with recruiting.

The Big East is a good gig, the top 6 teams can go 9-3 or so every year, fans are happy, and the coaches KEEP their job.

If I were a recruit I would ask Schiano why he is out interviewing every year. It certainly would make me question whether he was gonna be there for my 4-5 years.

He didn't interview for neither job. He was considered, and he took his name out of the running. Schiano is making a great name for his self in these parts. The man is making with salary and endorsement over 2 mil a year.

The kids Charlie recruiting could be asking him if he gonna be around for the next 4-5 years. Or any other coach for that matter.

Leys be honest. All the HC tell these recruits that they will be the HC the 4-5 yrs. that these kids will be in school. Alot of times the HC are telling the truth. But as we get older we understand that things change in a persons life and they may move elsewhere. I do think that if a coach brings in a recruit and leaves before the kids have finished their FR. year then they should be allowed to transfer without loseing a yr. of elgebility. Thats just my opinion.
