I look at Frank Beamer as a great example of someone who would not have made it in today's coaching market.

He didn't turn things around until going 9-3 in 1993. YEAR SEVEN. From that point on, he never missed a bowl game. He had three 7-6 records at the end of his tenure, but they were a bowl season mainstay from 1993-2015 under his watch. 2004-2011 he had consecutive double digit win seasons.
Maybe that’s what Syracuse is doing w/ Dino Babers. He’s now in year seven w/ a losing career record at Syracuse but seems to be trending up this season.

This is an excellent example. How much better do they think they can do? Not to mention Babers fell into their lap and was going to UCF to begin with.

He's done a pretty good job with his staff turnover. That's always pivotal.

Too many programs have super unrealistic expectations (sound familiar? lol). You're Syracuse, the days of Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Floyd Little. and Larry Csonka are over. Get a coach that brings stability, graduates players, and can make some noise for the program once in a while going 9-3/10-2 while also being a steady 7 or 8 win team. Many programs need a deep look inside about what they really are.

Auburn plays at UGA this weekend, at Ole Miss the following. It has to be Harsin who is next on the chopping block.

After that, I'll go with Neal Brown at WVU. Brown has OC/QB coach background at Texas Tech and Kentucky prior to becoming an HC at Troy. I don't know what kind of potential P5 candidate he'd be for that spot going forward.

I agree, the in season firings will continue and Harsin and Brown look like the perfect candidates. I sat by a WVU alum at the Cal game and he cannot wait to see Brown get canned.

Satterfield at Louisville....he's got to be flirting with fire right now too right?

I had not realized this, the A&M OL Coach is now Steve Addazio after USC took their OL Coach. And Durkin replaced Elko as DC. And Jimbo still insists on calling his own plays.

Funny how Louisville was starting to look legit and then Papa John gets fired and Louisville starts looking like Louisville. Hmmmm.

What an astounding collection of assholes.
Funny how Brian Kelly killed a kid but DJ Durkin didn't. That's some bullshit.

The fact that Art Briles never came back to college football is quite an anamoly. Penn State got a slap on the wrist for what they did over the course of multiple decades, but Art Briles got exiled?

Why hire actual Art Briles when you can get the 2.0 versions with none of the scrutiny?

I mean, it was a large factor in Durkin's firing.

If only that were the way it works, though.

Seems like he's one of the few who has actually been accountable and has had to carry the scrutiny. I'm not carrying water for the guy by any means, but it is curious how he was cast out when so many others have been given second and third chances.

A small tangent, everyone is looking for the replacement for Rees, if you want a little taste of that Briles/Kiffin/Lebby tree the hire would be Joe Jon Finley

He was reinstated and fired a day later because of the backlash.

Typically don't see the social media types going on about how he killed a kid. Guess it's proof of Notre Dame's lightning rod relevance. In fact, I doubt now that Bk changed jobs and accents we'll hear much about it again.

He's definitely a young up and comer. Moving up fast, too. Likely a matter of time he gets an HC gig.

I'm curious about Eastern Michigan's staff. That program was absolutely terrible when Chris Creighton got there. He's managed to make it somewhat more respectable with very little resources.

That program has been to six bowl games ever. He's gotten them to four in 8 seasons and is sitting at 3-2 in his 9th.

Seems like most people talk about Sean Lewis at Kent State, and rightfully since that is a hard place to win too, but EMU is doing a lot with less compared to most.

You couldn't make that up.

Creighton is 40-59 at EMU, and that's not going to turn many heads when you look at it on paper, but he went 3-21 in the first two years. He had success at Ottawa, Wabash and Drake as an HC prior to EMU. Really worked his way up in kind of a Leipold fashion. He turns 54 in February.

There is no place in civilization for shitty pizza.

White girls in college sure did love those breadsticks, though.
Shitty pizza is right. It's the worst IMO and those breadsticks? Is that what you call them? Those things come in all shapes and sizes. I remember one that looked like it has ingested a potato.

He was held accountable, but he wasn't accountable. He kept denying for the longest time. He should never get a decent gig again.

This should be true for dozens of others but isn't.

Dale is right. No use buying the cow when you can get the milk for free. Art Briles has lieutenants everywhere now.
