This guy is really something and what a great ambassador for the University. I get the feeling he is real. The kids pick up on that, the media will be in his hip pocket, and he will win. My best description of his manhood is how he accepted getting beat in OT by Sparty last year. Shake the other coaches hand and tell him you got me. Of course no one likes to lose but this is a classy guy. He will excell here and there will come a time when the nation sees Notre Dame as a force thru this coach. Jack did good in hiring this man. I like the comment about beating an SEC team-he's right- and it sounds like thats what he intends to do. I have said many times I will know when Notre Dame is back when they go to another Sugar Bowl and beat an SEC team in their own backyard. There are a lot of paybacks due on the books.

Kelly lead the TV sports news on Alabama TV last night. They mentioned the the $5,000 donation but the focus was the quote about beating an SEC team. They showed him mentioning how difficult it was to schedule with ND's regular opponents and league schedules.

Of course they didn't mention that ND and Alabama had a home and home contract for '05 & '06 that Alabama asked to be let of after their last NCAA sanctions. Bama AD, Mal Moore, who was an assistant coach at ND under Holtz, contacted White to cancel the agreement and White complied. Bama fan's and writer's (as well as those of the SEC) never mention that Bama backed out of the series.

Bama replaced ND on their schedules with Utah St and Florida International
