There's a guy on NDNation who claims that Clausen will be named the starter and that the involved parties have been notified. Doesn't say who he came by the information or anything else so take it for whatever it's worth.

Theres some rumors on DD and NDnation that Clausen is going to be the starter Saturday for the PSU game. Hope so, I think he is our best chance at QB to start.

Yeah I agree at least I will find out when I wake up tomorrow (my last day to do sleep in.) Clausen has been practicing this summer, but hasn't been really throwing the ball so this may be too soon don't you think? I think he's waaaayyy better than everyone else we have and everyone should of known that from the day he committed, but he's only just returned the 100% and throwing the ball downfield so I expected Sharpley for a couple of more games. Should be interesting though because I think if Clausen starts it'll be just that much more louder in Happy Valley if that's possible.

I had goosebumps when Jimmy entered the game on Saturday. He's the one who's going to lead us to the National Championship. I hope he starts this week and that the OL gives him more time to throw touchdowns. Go Irish!

You actually got the thread as it looks like, from the title, that my post was the one to be merged with yours but we don't have the powers to move posts up or down. It's all timestamped and we are powerless to change those.

But if it's any consolation, NDNation actually posted it first.

I think if Clausen starts, Weis will have a game plan where his throws wont have to be to hard. Just so he gets used to all his WR's and he can hopefully depend on his RB's to carry the weight. We win ONLY if our Oline is a lot better.

------I accually remember seeing "flashes" of greatness during Brady's first couple of games and I figured by the time he's done I told my dad that he'd be the future #1 pick. I was close, but who was I to expect the NFL to be retarded.

I would agree. We all know he wont go to being a WR. So yeah, If JC starts, then DJ would probably transfer. Especially with Crist coming in next year. Who knows?

Well if he wants to transfer then it would presumably be because he insists on playing nothing other than QB. With that in mind, it's going to be a LONG step down to a team that may actually want him as QB.

If the kid is that serious about football and has NFL aspirations, his best shot is staying and contributing the most he can at whatever position suits him best. If he doesn't plan on trying to go to the next level, then his best shot is to stay because I don't think he's going to get a football scholarship to play QB at a better school than here. Either way, the smart thing to do is to stay.

Clausen was the only one who looked like he had played QB before. He gives us the best chance to win and I think we win this week if he starts.

I don't think it's even questionable. Clausen should start and Weiss can get back to gameplanning out of what he is used to. I believe in trial by fire. Throw him in there and let him get some OJT. He'll get better.
