Zack Collins, C, Chicago White Sox (Double-A): Maybe Collins sticks at catcher. Maybe he doesn’t. Either way, the bat is going to play, and the idea of seeing him hitting second in the White Sox’s lineup once their full complement of prospects ascend is awfully appealing. Because his on-base skills are glorious: Collins is hitting .276/.445/.476 this year while splitting time between catcher and DH. The White Sox hope he’s the former. They’ll still take the latter.

Yes kid has a major league patient eye. He takes walks which is great to see. He is doing it finally against some better pitching.. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to AAA at some point this summer as well with a shot at Big League club in September, but almost certainly next season.

I never thought I'd see the day when Chris Sale was out-dueled by Dylan f*cking Covey. Tip of the hat to the young lad. He made one of the best lineups in the AL his bitch.

The #13 and #14 picks of the 2010 draft respectively only for Covey to find out he had diabetes on his physical and go to college. Regardless kids pitching great and may be working himself to next years rotation. His off speed stuff looks great. Keep grinding young man. This ballclubs young arms are so deep it’s exciting.

Rodon 2018 debut tomorrow. I bet 8ks O/U

As utterly atrocious as this team, there are actual things to start being excited about. Rodon returning, the resurgence of Covey and Shields, Lopez being rock-solid, even Giolito is finding a little something on the mound. Soon the big talent will arrive.

Sox starting pitching just went 2-1, with only 3 earned runs against the best team in baseball. Keep it up. Covey has been extremely fun to watch as well. Talent rich arms big league to low A

Blake Rutherford, OF, White Sox (High-A Winston-Salem): 2-5, 2B, 3B, RS, 3 RBIs.

.295/.338/.440. for the year. Should be in Birmingham sooner than later. You'd like the OBP to be a bit higher, but he's on track nevertheless.

Pretty solid trade again.. Essentially Tommy Kahnle for Rutherford. Kahnle has 7ER in 9IP this year... Nice win again Hahn.

He was awesome last year with Chicago.

It will be interesting to see what Rutherford's ceiling will be. Some OF in the system I like better, but as a platoon/fourth OF? Sure!

They've got some good problems they could be sorting out in a few years. See Cubs and Astros before them.

Old Big Game James pitched a gem tonight.. I was at the game tonight and hope he can continue this for 45 more days and get traded. Lot of talk that after Avi does his 10 days in AAA that he will be traded by deadline because of everyone behind him and still has value left with that contract.

Also, again, Francisco Lindor may be my favorite player in MLB. What a joy watching him play again tonight. Dude is a stud. Led MLB in extra base hits in month of May and had 2 more tonight.. Pretty sure he was 2 of 3 hits agains BGJ.

This team is playing .500 in their last 30 games. I don't know that it is for the best. They should be doing everything possible to catch the Royals for last, not the Tigers or Twins.

I'm sure their front office is ready to start moving pieces soon.

I don't agree with tanking anymore.. We have a ton of depth in arms and in the outfield right now.. At some point you have to start giving these kids a taste of winning and developing a winning culture.. Most of these guys are auditioning to be on a different team - Shields, Soria, Garcia, Santiago, and some of these guys are trying to be part of this team moving forward - Engel, Yolmer, Tillson as probably role players. You want Moncada, Anderson, Lopez, Covey, Frye to be part of winning to start building a winning mindset for when these other guys start coming up. We still are going to have a top 5 pick next year, but keep winning for improving for next years team to build for that going to hot 2020 team. Also, send Giolito back down, give Kopech a shot.

Lot of moves.. Good to see.. If Jimenez stays in minors this year sox gain another year of control.. So hes not coming up this year unfortunately.

Why is that unfortunate? They're terrible and you want the control in today's market. Leave him down. They're not winning a damn thing this year or next most likely.

Stick to the plan.

Last night, Zavala caught Carson Fulmer's start. Fulmer went 7 innings and gave up 7 hits, 3 ER with 11K and 1 BB, with 2 HR allowed.

The guy is a mechanical mess.

They really need another set of eyes on Fulmer and Giolito other than Don Cooper's. He has served as pitching coach since Jerry Fucking Manuel? He must have a Jerry Reinsdorf pee tape to keep his job that long.

I assume he comes with the job. Did Guillen, Ventura and Renteria have any chance of bringing in their own guy?

He 100% is reinsdorf's favorite. He pretty much has the job as long as he wants it.. Unless they hire a big time coach (Girardi) that coach will have his say. Speaking of Ozzie, it's a shame he hasn't coached again. I wouldn't doubt if he wears 13 for the Sox again in the future. He I believe is more responsible for the managing of that 2005 staff then coop was.

Didn’t they hire Dave Duncan as an adviser?

Reinsdorf is truly loyal to a fault. I think he should let Rick Hahn run the team. I also think they should stay the hell away from Joe Girardi now and forever.

Hard to say what Renteria can do. He's been at the ground floor of both Chicago rebuilds. He really did nothing wrong with the Cubs. Just bad timing for him and it was a business decision by Theo to move on Maddon when Friedman left for the Dodgers.

I like Renteria. No idea what his managerial acumen actually is. When this team is ready to actually win a Central and compete for a championship, is he there? I don't really know the answer to that. I do know I would not want Girardi to be if I was a White Sox fan.

I honestly don't think Ricky knows how to make a lineup accurately, unless its being forced on him.. Moncada has 102 strikeouts in 255 ABs.. That is atrocious for a lead off hitter. He is trying to do to much. He is a 2 or a 5/6 in a lineup.. He has power to drive in runs and speed to score. When you look at some of the matchups they are truly headscratchers. Some days hes giving guys days off who are the hottest on the team, why?!?? To give some scrub like Narvaez some PT? I know he is dealing with what he has, but he over manages.. The constant bunting is awful.. Also, consistently running Nate Jones out there when you are up 4 runs, when the starter has more gas in the tank makes zero sense.. He may be a good baseball man, but i think he is better served as a bench coach in the future.

All this being said, there is the very high probability that they're trying to lose on purpose this year.

I'll agree with you on bunting. It's an outdated practice and it's well beyond stupid.
