Don't sleep on Dane Dunning either. 9.9 K per 9 and getting better each start.. I think he is a future 4/5 starter for Sox.

Rodon, Lopez, Koepch will be there. Hansen has been awesome. If Giolito can consistently handle his command, it's going to be crowded. Dunning has been awesome. Someone winds up in the pen though, or maybe in long relief/swing man role.

Carson Fulmer looks like a reliever or car wash employee right now. Miserably bad this year in Triple A. Have to see how Burdi comes back from surgery.

I think Fulmer becomes the closer of the future.. Right now I think hes odd man out. Carlos Rodon his last few starts has been a K machine. If he keeps this up and can stay healthy that bulldogg will be all over it. Future sox starting rotation, sets starting staff strikeout record held by Detroit. Mark my words.

Fulmer is a hot mess. They need to sort him out and he's lucky he was a high pick because they'll likely spend more time trying to sort him out because of it. He was one of the most polarizing players in that draft. Now we know why.

Ian Happ went to the Cubs with the very next pick in that draft.

Sox promoted Jimenez and Collins to Birmingham today.

Ya and his Defense has been stellar as mentioned above.. Keep it up young man.

I haven't read anything about stellar, only that he's made some strides in terms of mechanics and footwork back there. He hits home runs and draws walks. His batting average isn't anything special, so the flat earther crowd will ignore the other 2/3 of his slash line and "miss the plot", as they say in England.

In other news:

Alec Hansen: 7 IP, 3H, 1 R, 1 BB, 11K, 92 pitches

Lucas Giolito: 6 IP, 7H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7K, 96 pitches

Luis Martinez, 6 IP, 4 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 10 K

Eloy Jimenez homered in his first AA at bat.

Zack Collins hit a 407 foot HR with a 110 MPH exit velocity. His first game in AA.

This was all last night…

When Gonzalez gets traded, does giolito get the call to the bigs?

I would have thought Gonzalez would have been gone by now. He's the perfect 5th starter for a contender down the stretch.

Hard to say, but you'd assume since Giolito is in AAA and Kopech is in AA that Giolito would get the call.

Sox fans have to hope they don't rush these guys. There is no reason for it.

I'll stick to your logic about not using BA.. Collins has a .820 OPS. .376 OBP, 12 HR, and 38 RBI He is doing ok at the plate, except for his strikeouts, which needs to stop.

OBP would be equal to 8th best in AL currently, and OPS would be good enough for #12 in AL as well.

His defense is getting better.. He has thrown out 41% of base stealers, which in todays MLB would be best % of all catchers. Read this article.. He is doing way better than you think he is.
White Sox prospect Zack Collins showing doubters he can catch

Collins has a .987 Fielding Percentage in 630 IP. He also has a 41% throw out rate on attempted steals, which is impressive if you look at stats in MLB as noted his numbers would translate to 2nd best in all of MLB catchers. I don't care what league you are in, it is notable the percentage he is throwing guys out. I get a liltte concerned with the passed ball numbers. I made the argument around the all star break when you said he wasn't doing shit at the plate, seems like your tune has changed to agreeing.

Collins has been dreadful defensively and at the plate. Carson Fulmer hasn't done near what they want in Triple A. They have to start hitting on these first round picks they get to go along with everyone else's talent they've acquired by trades.

Here is your quote i commented on..

Now for 2017 combined Collins is at
.366 OBP, .817 OPS, 77BB, 49 RBI, 18 HR. I am just fine with those numbers.

Did you see his numbers in August from when I posted that? He's gone completely nuts and his numbers have sky rocketed.

Thank you for omitting his batting average.

there are advanced defensive metrics for catchers that go beyond fielding percentage (outdated and flawed) and throw out rate (Collins can't help if his pitcher's delivery hinders his ability to throw out a runner).

Anyone sitting in the bleachers when Fulmer pitches could have a busy day.

They should shut Lopez down for the year.

I agree shut him down, abreu did a great job getting him to realize it was time to come out of the game and that he was actually hurt.

At this point in the season it doesn't matter, just run him out there give him a shot see if he can do anything at all. Fullmer you have either best case you get another starter or a trade chip in the future. Worst case moving to the pen, or DFA down the line. Hope he can be something decent for the pen in the future if starting doesn't happen.

Sox 2 games ahead of Phillies for first pick right now. Stop beating decent teams.

I can't believe no one has grabbed Miguel Gonzalez off waivers. He's making $5.9M this year, and a club would have to pay him for the remainder of the season, but that's actually pretty solid money in today's starting pitcher market.

If Fulmer is anything, he's a reliever. Possibly not a very good one either. Whatever ails him, they have yet to fix.

Carson Fulmer had a case of the Mondays.

Kopech had a shaky first start in Triple A but wasn't bad. 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. 93 pitches, 58 for strikes.

Sox trail Phillies by two games in the loss column for worst record.

Fulmer got roughed up.. Covey working a lot of innings.

Rodon is looking like a big part of the future with this rotation. Ive said Lopez will be 1A, but he may be 1B with Rodon's stuff right now. Hes coming into his own.

Rodon has been great. Good to see him healthy.

Fulmer is a set up reliever at best. His straight ball goes the opposite direction in very long distances. He's been getting roughed up all year, and in Triple A.

There won't be room for him in the rotation they have coming.

Giolito looked strong. Wasn't his best, but he pressed on into the start and did pretty well. No walks.

Collins threw a runner out trying to steal second last night and Collins made the throw from his knees.

Sox did him Giolito no favors in the 2nd with bases loaded and no outs, and didn't convert when they were up 1-0. Kid looked good. Real patient.

Jake Burger went 3-4 last night in Kannapolis. He's showing better than expected athleticism and footwork to the point that staying at third could be a real possibility.

Keep him away from the pizza and beef sandwiches.

Burger went 5-5 with a cycle last night.

It seems like the entire franchise from top to bottom is playing better baseball as an organization (except Fulmer). It's exciting, and I definitely sense the winds of change in the way the team is playing and the buzz the fans have. This is going to be a fun ride, even if they keep losing the rest of this year and next.

Fulmer will never be a starter on the main club, if he ever makes it will be as a bullpen type or closer role.

Agreed.

I think they need to zero in on getting more position players in the infield, particularly the middle. Moncada may outgrow second. Anderson's plate discipline shows no signs of improving.

They have a couple of guys at catcher, first and third. Plenty of outfield prospects and pitching. If they can shore up the middle infield in the next draft they'll be looking very strong.

they're only 4 back in the WC. Maybe they think they can make a run with one more SP.

3/5 of our future rotation going this weekend with Lopez/Rodon/Giolito. I'm going tomorrow for Buehrle bobblehead day on my son's birthday
