I played ball with him so this is a strange thing to see. I never would have imagined someone I grew up around coaching at ND..pretty cool.

Finally! We get insider info AND tickets down with the Bluehairs! Dibs on the Clemson game!

A fine day in IE history indeed.

I just picked up the subscription for a dollar. Good read.

This guy is VERY highly thought of out there in the football community. Dabo, Aranda, etc. gave him high marks. He has some recruiting work ahead of him for sure and a thin group he'll inherit, but this was a really off the radar hire that I'm the most excited about.

Quote from Drew Pyne today on Stuckey:

"I've seen a group that works really hard. Coach Stuckey came in here and they got right into the film room. They've worked really hard off the field, but really hard on the field. Those guys can't stop talking about how great he is. It really shows on the field. We've had two really good days of practice, but for us, it's not good enough. We're always striving to get better every single day and coach Rees is really putting that on our offense. We're getting better every single day."

That's a good sign when the Qb's are saying this.

This is the point of the offseason where I start rewatching old games at work to get ready for fall camp and the upcoming season.

Just watching a recording of the 2005 ND/Pitt broadcast, and there was an ABC look-in on Clemson vs Texas A&M. Clemson took an early lead thanks to a punt return for touchdown by... Chansi Stuckey. A future ND WR coach stealing some air time from his future squad back in '05, thought it was a funny coincidence.

The WR coaching/recruiting bar for Chansi when he came to Notre Dame was "oh my God I'm begging you to literally do anything," but it's nice to see that he's more than exceeded the previous coach's output so far.

If you don’t have the Athletic, in short, NFL slot receivers are growing and a lot relates to blocking in the run game. Colts coach defined three different slot receivers instead of one, the traditional slot, the speed slot , size slot.

Decker was a slot receiver for the Jets in 2015. It’s been going on for awhile now.

Claypool is going to be a slot this year, correct?
I think I heard that anyway.

Depends highly on the offensive style. Pats mold of slot WR in the past has really been all about quickness because the other WRs are more likely to be spread out and there’s more space to operate as a slot. Offenses like Rams or Niners it’s more bunched wrs closer and their slots need to be larger as run game is primarily stretch stuff to the outside. Someone like Edelman or welker would take a beating blocking in that offense.

Pats are actually currently in the process of going away from the Erhardt/Perkins offense (Charlie Weis) to a stretch run / play action offense like Rams/Niners.

Tis the rumor.

I believe Frank Reich is correct when he says that Bruce Arians started this as OC of the Steelers.

Great piece. Further proof that what I don't know about football could fill a warehouse.

i hope we kill them down the field saturday when they load the box but kinda've hard to do that though when you have an OC that doesn't take advantage of that sort of thing except for the UNC game and also have a QB that is playing like somebody that has no confidents right now
