That's why he always brings Joanna with him on the road and even to the hotel on home games.

Since we're in the bowels of the BYE week, theory time.

I don't think MF sleeps well on the road. I'm not sure if it's travel, nerves, or the hotel thing, but at home games he looks like his GQ self. On road game, he's always puffy-eyed and looks glossed.
That makes sense. I can empathize: I have never had a good night of sleep in a hotel. Although I look shit either way so it does not stand out....

This I assume was the unexplained video Brice posted of Freeman ripping the officials.

BYU also varied tempo more than they had all year. They finished middle of the pack nationally in tempo last week whereas near dead last first 6 weeks. The tempo part they really should have seen coming. Teams play normal weeks slow and go up tempo for big games all the time.

The confusion at times was not being prepared for tempo that BYU hadn’t shown all year, BYU illegally huddling with 12 and then BYU subbing late and not pausing for ND to do the same long enough. All of it 100% avoidable mistakes by ND/Ash still. But there is enough there to say the Provo at night, Provo magic is also refs blatantly ignoring rules all night.

When Brice says "get exposed", is he talking about ND also not subbing and making the refs hold up the snap?

I think defense gets exposed by having wrong personnel and presnap confusion, something we saw plenty of in the game.
But then why do we not have the right personnel? Is it because it's not technically a sub the way BYU was doing it being huddled up, thus wouldn't force to refs to hold up the snap while ND changed their personnel?

You cannot break the huddle with 12. If you have 12 in the huddle, the sub is supposed make a good faith effort to come off in a timely (within 3 seconds) fashion.

“A team can sub when they choose” is patently wrong.

“Provo magic”

At every stage of the game, BYU did a masterful job of doing just enough that the refs weren't going to call it...receivers were physical to the point of technical OPI with our dbs (see the last touchdown), O line would hold just long enough, D line would yank guys, etc...none of it legal, none of it blatant enough to be called unless BYU fucked up (like on the pick play TD).

It's the type of football you'd love to see on your team.

But technically not a sub because all 12 are already out there and they just pick who comes out. Gray area at best. Smart if the refs are going to let them do it, but I bet they wouldn't have let ND do the same thing if roles are reversed and big 12 refs.
yeah, it's not remotely a gray area, having 12 guys in an offensive huddle for more than 3 seconds is a dead ball foul:

ARTICLE 3 a Team A may not break the huddle with more than 11 players nor keep more than 11 players in the huddle or in a formation for more than three seconds Officials shall stop the action whether or not the ball has been snapped PENALTY—Dead-ball foul. Five yards from the succeeding spot. [S22]

I guess I’m alone in this, but not me. I hate that bush league crap. Play heads up, or don’t play.
I’d like it if the refs enforced the rules. But if they’re not going to throw a flag every play, I’d like our players to be savvy enough to know where they can get an advantage.

I’ll give a concrete example-I think our corners are very physical and probably push the limits of what is allowable hand contact quite a bit. I love our corners.

We got out coached and the players were not switched on enough. The Troare ejection was the writing on the wall. That was the worst error Ive seen an ND player make since probably the OSU loss a few years ago.

Edit: no doubt this has all already been discussed thoroughly but I have stayed off for the week.

In retrospect we got home cooked like crazy, it is what it is. It's the random confluence of events + coaching that ends up with an upset.

Honestly the more I’ve heard about the home cooking (including the apparent 4 seconds off the clock post BYU touchdown which I just heard today), the more frustrated I get with the coaching staff. How was there not a huge deal made of all this throughout the game?

Also has anything come out about why both crews were big 12?

Something I forgot was how our last two losses came the week before a bye so we’ve had to sit on these tragic losses for an extra week. Brutal.
