...Way to go Chuck. I am glad you gathered yourself.

Here is the deal from my perspective. If you kick a kid off the football team, you give him his release, then and there. If you relegate a kid to backup, w/o ever seeing him compete with your incoming guns, you offer him the option to take his release and go elsewhere.

The kid was held in limbo precisely to screw him by making him wait for recruiting to more or less materialize for everyone, rendering him less likely to get a scholarship...it jeopardized his ability to move on. No matter the conduct of the KID, these folks should be bigger than that.

I also think there appears some level of conflict in timelines...but not surprised.

In the end, I find Chuck's and KU's conduct juvenile, and PR stupid...and they got bit square in the A$$ for handling it this way. If your kid was choosing schools, is KU in the discussion to start with, and after this little Ogre dance, even if it were a consideration, does KU scare you? He already has a difficult recruiting road, and this hurt him...its that simple.

The 5 year NCAA is triggered by enrolling in a university and attending class. The 4 years of eligibilty in those 5 years is triggered by game participation. A meeting is neither a class nor a game.

I think he's not arguing that it would have used eligibility, but that showing up on campus at all would have required an extra semester of delay before he could play after transferring.

You're right. The PR here was bad.
