Yes, I can explain being a referree, it was an errant spot on the 7 yard line instead of the 2 and NO PERSON except the two other High School referrees I was watching the game with caught it as we were yelling, stop the play, stop the play......... The interference call was in the end-zone resulting in the ball on the 2 yard line...... which may have altered the play selection by the coaches.

I know I was just pointing out we were going to **** up and lose this game one way or another. You can just tell, they just were itching to ****ing choke. Glad to see you a reffereee though.

Thanks for the answer. And to the other guy, It doesn't matter now, but I was just curious as to why no one on the field caught this.

Ugh, I gotta work at 6, im out. Tomorrow is going to suck. And Gary needs some time to sit and think about how to turn and locate the ball during the 10 secs it takes those ducks to get there. Lo Wood?

I think it's only placed on the 2 if they're inside the 15 yard line.
Pass interference is a 15 yard penalty in NCAA not a spot foul like the NFL.
The play started on the 22 yard line there for it's a 15 yard penalty.
Ref just misspoke.

The refs were very good in this game.
The only call I think they missed was the first Michigan td.
He was down.

Forget Urban, fella's. He's waiting for Ohio State - we aren't even on his radar.

I don't know, I'm just asking this question - is Kelly in over his head? On the post game, he's just says "welp, we're not good enough, nobody in our locker room is good enough". Thanks for that insight, Brian. I'm just starting to wonder if it all came pretty easy with no pressure against MAC and Big East teams. Some people just can't handle the big boy pants. I sure thought Kelly could, but starting to wonder.

Just got done reviewing this with Paul, (my partner in games), You are very correct. The rule is 15 yard penalty or the lesser if within 15 yards of the goal line. If the pass interference occurs in the end-zone and less than the last spot of the 15 yard line, the ball is placed on the 2 yard line. ..... My bad... sorry, we had many beers.....

The more i think about it, the more BK reminds me of Crist. Can't handle game speed and the white hot spotlight.

Coach Kelly shouldnt be fired as it is year two, but these two quotes about our defense playing better then the 2009 defense and the program being 10000000000X better is dillusional. I don't know how you can argue otherwise. We gave up 28 pts in the 4th quarter. and 400 + yards to a running back playing QB. But go ahead and keep on being dillusional.

Learn how to spell DELUSIONAL.

The 2007 Notre Dame team was on par with a MAC school. The 2009 Notre Dame team would have given up 700 yards to Denard Robinson. Hell 2007, 2008, and 2009 teams would have run out of gas in the fourth and they'd have run all over then. Instead you saw Denard throwing passes whilst being tackled, Denard booting with perfect coverage so he runs it for 12, etc etc. Denard Robinson is a man. He threw up horrendous ugly ducklings--throws so bad they sorta made sense.

Oh boy. I'm not concerned about any one play. How about a guy that CAN coach up 85 3-5 star recruits enough not to look like buffoons for two Saturdays a row. I'll name ONE that can't - Brian Kelly.

I don't think we need a new coach, maybe just a consultant who can explain to me (1) why our DB's have such terrible ball skills and (2) why it is so awesome to pass on your opponent's goal-line on first down.

Bafoons? They held Michigan to three first downs in the first half! That is perfect!

The fourth quarter heroics are enraging. I get that, but the gameplan from the coaches was fine, good, and possibly excellent.

I'm still a BK fan, but on 3rd and short he ran the same play that resulted in the same outcome. 4TH DOWN. Would have loved to see some play action, or least something other than te in motion and Wood up the middle for no gain....smh...this hurt more than the Bush push.

The team isn't good and they lack speed. The coaches and kids are doing as well as cac be expected. In fact, I'd say Kelly is coaching above the talent level he has to work with. Scout.com and every other recruiting service can say what they'd like....ND has not been getting five and four star recruits, which we have heard for five consecutive years. If that were true you'd expect at least one fluke year when the team was very good....and it hasn't happened.

How many times in the last fifteen years has Notre Dame put up 500+ offensive yards?

20. And they are 2/2 this year.

This team is loaded with talent. Personally I don't know what the hell you are talking about. Forget Rivals/Scout/etc, look at the offer lists. Again, this team is loaded with talent.

Brian Kelly said it best, it all comes down to execution.

I have to disagree. If our line can't block well enough to get 1 yard then they might be the problem. A good OL will get you at least 1 yard even when the D knows what is coming.

Teams loaded with talent do not play average football year after year after year. Good for the team, they torch ****** defenses. Guess who else puts up 500 yards every week: Houston and Hawai'i.

Let me help you out. ND is actually two for two for two for two this year: two games, twice 500 yards of offense, twice five turnovers and twice losses. You can have your moral victories, I like real ones.

A) Wrong. B) EVERYONE "lacks speed" when they're chasing Denard Robinson around the field.

Seems so cliched, but it's the truth- this is not about skill gap or size or speed issues. This is about PLAYING SMART! The moment this team turns the mental corner is the moment they get the season back on track.

I'm tired

I'm tired

60 years old, following the Irish right after Ara's departure. Man, I feel low. I am so freaking tired and devestated. I really don't know what else to say. I watch that game and I swear if I could jump into that screen I'd grab Denard Robinson and body slam his *** so hard he'd be out for the year. The same ****ing thing as last year! Are we competitive against major college programs, honestly, I don't think so. Not any more.

The people who say "Be patient" just need to jump off a cliff. We have been "patient" since Holtz left. How much longer do you expect us to be "patient" That word makes me sick.

the word fraud keeps coming to mind when thinking of brian kelly. those short yardage plays spoke volumes about him as a coach.

BK knows the deal and said it. There is no one in the locker room that is good enough.

It doesn't matter how many stars used to be next to their name, it doesn't matter what kind of potential we think they have.

The fact is, they are not a confident football team and it showed in the 4th quarter.

It's all good lads. Kelly changes programs for the better.

This program needs to be changed from the roots up. I can see a difference already but it will probably take another 2 years.

Just maintain your expectations for now and look for progress on a week to week basis.

It's just football. Kiss your wife, pet your dog, don't let a bunch of kids ruin your week.

BK will get control of this. Have faith.

Faith,on my part anyway, is non-existent. Years of ineptitude does that to you. This place is a coach eater. They come here, and leave with their tails between their legs. I'm not sure there IS a coach out there who can turn this program around. I think it starts with getting rid of any and all arrogance. This isn't the Holtz era Irish. Not even close. This program as some have said needs a ground up redo. Just being 'ND' doesn't cut it anymore. No one cares. You gotta perform! Make it happen on the field and earn that respect! You don't get it simply by donning a uniform! NAVY beat us for cryin out loud! For DECADES that didn't happen! Forget the frickin 'we are ND' crap and go out and EARN it!!!!!!!!

These losses are on the team and not Kelly. The coaches can only do so much to get the kids ready. I'm just hoping he's going to be patient enough to stick with us and able to change the mental attitude of this program.
