Maybe its me being cynical again, but i don't think the prosecution will get a fair trial in San Fran, where a good majority of citizens think there should be no law but "do what feels good", and every substance that can be injested ought to be legal. Then you will get the jurors who think they are only going after him for racial motives.

While these charges are about perjury, you first have to prove that what he said he didn't do, he actually did, that is take steroids, HGH, the cream the clear and head enlargment balm. And some people (especially those who think every substance should be legal) just don't care that he took them.

This reminds me of the blunder the OJ prosecutors made in charging and trying OJ in downtown LA instead of Brentwood.

Hacing vilated federal law, Bonds' prosecutors could have charged him just about anywhere. LA would have been a much better venue.

He's entirely innocent, and there is NO evidence to the contrary.

Ironically, he asked the equipment manager for a smaller athletic supporter around the same time.

His excuse was shrinkage from the colder weather in san francisco.

Stephen A. Smith
(Bonds) "is targeted more than the average white athlete would be. Reality."

Granted, the anchor totally baited him towards commenting on race, but seriously, does he just not get it or is he too wrapped up in the parody of himself?

His biggest argument was comparing Barry to McGuire, and questioned the timing of the investigation in that people ignored the PED problem when Big Mac was setting the season HR record. He conveniently forgets the color of the guy going toe-to-toe with McGuire.

What he said was actually mild compared to some of the ignorant crap I seen on other boards (Fox, MSN). You would think that this is '57 all over again.

It's a joke. The whole thing. It's sickening. This should have happened a year ago. This ain't news to me anymore.

Stephen A. Smith is an absolute idiot. This has nothing to do with the fact that Bonds is black and Mac was white, in fact the indictment was due to the fact that Bonds purjured himself in a case against Balco in which Bonds was offered total immunity for his honest testimony. Its not the feds fault that Bonds is a self-rightious jackass who chose to lie in those circumstances.

I will be interested what evidence they have if Anderson didn't roll over. he was let out of jail yesterday on the civil contempt charge for refusing to testify.

The fact that this comes after Marion Jones just pled is significant. I can envision every sports star whose been charged and pled in relation to Balco could be forced to testify in Barry's case. If everyone of them in Balco's records said they knew what they were taking and were told to call it flaxseed oil, then the fact Bonds called it flaxseed in his testimony would be pretty damning.

That's true and the bad thing about cases like this to make the public numb/sceptical to real situations where race could be a major factor.

Thats so true, its like a boy who cried wolf situation.

I don't know if this will be introduced into evidence at his trial, but I don't think his winning smile will be the focus of the picture.

You would think when he started destroying the town they would have turned him in. I guess it's like the love/hate relationship Japan has with Godzilla.

Palmeiro: "Let me say emphatically that I did not have sex with that woman."
Senator: "Mr. Palmeiro, this inquiry is about steroids and baseball."
Palmiero: "I did not have sex with steroids in baseball. No further comment."
