Ok guys, I'm just disappointed as the rest of you but rember this is not the place to belittle our players or our coaches. If you can not find a way to rationally critique, or break down the game then you would be better off reading and not posting. I'm not saying that you can't address issues that you are concerned about or that you have to be all rosey and positive but you don't need to be saying that "this" player sucks, or such and such coach needs to get his together. Remember that players, recruits, and their families do read the board, and we should all try to express ourselves with as much class as possible.

Remember that this was one game (The seaon opener mind you) against a good team with a very good defense in a rebuilding year. ND will hit some bumps in the road this year, and probably one or two next year as well, but there is a big light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, it makes me sick to read some of these posts, no matter who was on the field, I guarentee that they played their hearts out, and to hear people talk so negativley about this team is just wrong

Talking about not stepping up, our cheerleaders really didn't come with their 'A' game. Plus, I don't think enough of you prayed before the game. I've had it, no more excuses.

Iv'e been an Irish fan since 1971. Sure they weren't always good years...but I am a fan. I do not change my dedication for no reason whats so ever.

As a fan, a true fan I am intitled to make observations...even play 'arm chair quarterback'...I live for it come each and every fall. But some of the posts I have read around the internet simply stinks. Calling for the Coaches head, degrading Demitrus and so forth.

I am as passionate as the next fan, and while losing hurts in more ways than one... I am and will be standing by our team each and every game...regardless. Go Irish!!!

I'm sorry, but I've got to give this a bump. Criticism of our team - players, coaches, athletic director, and so on - is certainly fine (and warranted!), but the level of venom in some people's posts has been pretty out of place, IMO.

Seriously. People are ALLOWED to say pretty much whatever they want, and in any case I'm not a mod so I have no say. I'm just encouraging people to use good sense in figuring out what they SHOULD say.

That's not it. You can critize, but let's keep it logical and mature.

I will give you an example:
"Weis is a horrible player caller!!!" = Not intelligent, mature, or substantiated

"I am not happy with the way Weis played TT on the Sweep" = BINGO...good point, many will agree.

It's not about saying only good things, it's about being smart about it, having facts, and discussing rationally and maturely.

Like everyone else on this board I am unhappy with losing, but I try to back up my criticisms with facts. FOR INSTANCE: Turkovich...he's not performing up to an acceptable standard. He is missing blocks, is sometimes oblivious to the blitz, and leaves big holes that get our QB hammered.

That's far different than "Turk sucks, pull him."

I have no doubt that Weis sees even more than we do on tape and has the best guy possible in there...but we are so weak at many positions that right now guys like Turk ARE the best on the team...which sucks, but it's life.

First off, this is privately owned webspace. It's a bit of a moot point to bring up the Bill of Rights.

Secondly, we're not censoring differing opinions. But for goodness sakes, can we do it without sounding like a bunch of high school freshmen ? If being mature or conveying yourself in an intelligent manner is too far beyond you, there are plenty of other venues to vent your prepubescent antics on. This is not one of them.

What makes this a great place to read/discuss ND football is INTELLIGENT conversation. Unless one of the athletes or coaches does something really class-less there is absolutely no need for anything beyond constructive criticism. Are people really complaining about this?!?

I don't (personally) care at all if people curse left and right all day but ripping on someone (omg ______ totally suckz!!1!1!) is A - unintelligent since there is nothing factual there, B - rude since this person is undoubtedly working their butt off for the program, and C - detrimental to this site since players/recruits/families read this stuff.

I don't want to waste my time reading stupid stuff, and some policing the site helps that. It's why this isn't some trash-site like espn's message boards. If you feel the need to write something stupid/bashing/dumb just go there, there is already a litany of it.

Free speech has had limits from its inception. For those not familiar with America's legal system - you can't yell fire in a crowded theater, you can't "defame" someone's character. Just like every freedom that makes America (F*** YEA!) great, it has limits.
