I had no idea that this transaction had occurred until I recently called the office about my subscription! The lady that answered the phone told me the magazine had been sold to a new company and that the merchandising company had dissolved......Unreal!!!!

Did you guys know about this???? I loved getting my shirts, hats, sweatshirts....ect from Blue and Gold! I additionally asked her if Tony Rice was still with the company.....her reply was no! Let's discuss......

I had killed my scrip about 6 months ago (end of season). Whether the fact I live so far away from the mailing location or my mailperson sucks, I was not getting my mag until 7-14 days after the delivery deadline. I was reading about the Navy game the week after the Syracuse loss, etc.

Will that impact the writing staff?

I agree I also no long have my scrip. It was always old news by the time it got to my door step. I have no idea how any sports paper/magazine stays in business with the internet!

Their website is still up and running. So is the catalog. Seems like they are still in business.

Maybe they are online only now.

Anybody know if they'll convert the paper subcription to the online site?

FYI, I just received my latest copy of the Blue & Gold Illus. the other day. The paper is still going .... bought by Coman Publishing Co. The crux of the staff is still there also. The paper seems to be much better than before .... all color photos, the pages are larger in size, more content, etc.

From the masthead Somogyi (worth the price alone), Burlage, and Sapp are still there as core staff along with John Haynesworth as the website/online content editor. Tom Pagna is still a contributing editors. Three of the four photographers are still there Gentry, Raymond, and Suozzi. Missing are O'Leary as an assistant editor, Chmiel, Hayes, and Silver as contributing writers, and all of the office staff.

The magazine is the same size, the stock heavier and slicker, more magazine quality than newspaper. They've added 14 pages most which appears to content and not just adds. They also added two internet newsletters for each game. The pricing appears to be the same with the only increase reflecting the increase in First Class Postal Rates. They no longer offer a 3 year subscription rate.

I had the same experience with them. I would get mine late and they failed to send my last 6 months subscription. When I contacted them about getting the 6 months I missed I was just out of luck. I had much better luck with the Irish sports report.

Yet another example...I just got a courtesy copy from the new company...deliver on June 12. Brilliant.

That said, I like that they went back to the larger page size, and the color photos are a big step up. Wonder what happened to Ryan O'Leary? One of the few bigger Domer Homers than yours truly. Saw him at a Chili's with Robert Hughes in '07 after the SC game.

I may renew...

I stand corrected. I'm use to my issue being folded in half. :)

That said, without looking at my past issues, I recall some drama with the font size being reduced in the last 12 months. I thought the new issue read well.

You recall correctly.

Another change that improved readablity was changing from the dull gray background to a clean white background. The change in background make the fonts look crisper even if there the same as before. Much easier on the eyes.

Open an old issue on a table. Then open the new issue and place it on top of the old issue offseting it by half a page. Literally like night and day. There choice of background colors for charts and sidebars also is superior.
