Couldn't agree more. I have long since thought that Notre Dame needed to hire an accomplished, college coach, who had been there and won on this level. These college coordinators and NFL coordinators are are well and good at their respective positions, but they truly don't understand the head coaching position until they have been one and ND is not the place for on the job training. I think Kelly was the smartest and best move, especially since he should belong in the discussion with other top flight coaches out there that aren't moving from their programs. I am very excited to see Coach Kelly prowling the sidelines, I love the spread offense, and I think we'll be very good for a long time.

good article and very true. i like the fact that he is teaching these kids about past traditions and payers. i really think nd got the right guy for the job this time. he may struggle alittle this year and he may not but thr future looks bright with him running the program.

Some nuggets I pulled out,

"I kind of empathize with the sentiment out there that, you know what, there is no reason why Notre Dame football can't be among the elite programs. We have all the things we need. Let's go do it." Brian Kelly

"When Notre Dame hires a successful college coach, national championships follow," Lou Holtz

"Nobody knew some of the real traditions of Notre Dame football. When there's respect, there's not entitlement," he said. "In this locker room, many have come before you. There needs to be that respect for it." Brian Kelly

I love this guy already!
