Throw USC in there.

Where were these fans when usc was going through their dry spell before poodle's arrival and his first couple years?

Um... Notre Dame, perhaps?

Think about it. Think about how many people around you have recently said they "like" Notre Dame. Now compare that to the number of people around you who said the same thing during the Davie and Ty years.

You may be right, but everyone I know has been a ND supporter forever. Actually, at work during weekly meetings, we would have a weekly ND football update, as most of the group are supporters. ND is fairly polarizing, you either like 'em or you don't, of course, fans may be more vocal when we are winning.

I think USC is in there and what about Michigan they wanted to fire the coach after going to the Rose Bowl, yes they got killed, but give me a break. What about Boise State, before this year no one even knew the had a school there now they're America's team?

It's the team that is hot. Right now I would say USC and Florida. If I had to say of all time, it would be ND, hands down.

ND isn't a bandwagon program, its a love or hate team.
I agree lots of people hate ND but lots of people like them. Take Davie and Willingham the people that love them watched every game with the same intensity of a national championship year. People that hate 'em still watch just to see them lose. ND not a bandwagon school.

Until recently, FSU was a huge bandwagon school. Michigan is always amongst the top sellers in college merchandise for what it's worth. I notice more Longhorn paraphenalia, lately too.

Living in the Cleveland area for most of my life, I would have to say tOSU. Until they made it to the NC game against Da U, nobody talked about them or recognized them. When they went to the NC game, Everyone was buying shirts, hats, etc and going to bars and celebrating as if the Browns just won the Super Bowl. Made me sick.

"Oh, I'm sorry. We thought that you enjoyed fruitcake."

"Do you enjoy throwing up every 5 minutes, Claude?"

"Um...Clarke..."

"I thought so..."

I understand the either you love or hate ND, but that's not necessarily true. There are a lot a casual fans out there that whenever ND is good they will cheer for them. My example is when I was in college at Illinois State. Ty had led the Irish to an 8-0 start, I saw ND gear all over the place. Once they started losing, I was about the only one. Obviously, we are not the casual fan, and we hate to think of ND as a bandwagon team. Believe me; if ND won the NC, everywhere you looked you would see ND.

I agree with this. I think at least in my experiences, there are a lot of Catholics that like ND ok, maybe not their favorite team, but they still like them. If ND is winning, they wear ND gear and talk about ND all the time. f ND is losing, they harass me about liking ND and cheer for their other favorite team (in my area, OSU or U of L or something like that).

But overall, I don't think ND is a bandwagon team in the same way as a lot of places.

my list would have, at least from a national perspective, USC, Florida, Rutgers, and maybe OSU to a degree.
