UCONN over Pitt 76-74 on a Kemba buzzer beater. A trip to the finals should push us over Pitt for a #1 seed.

True, but only, ONLY, ONLY if we don't screw things up!

We shall see.

Go Irish ... keep my heart beating on a positive note.

I still think Pitt gets a number one seed no matter what. ND gets a one also if we get to the title game.

I'm not as sure. I used to think Pitt was a guaranteed #1, but I dont know anymore after looking more into it. Their RPI is a 7 and SOS is a 29. Their RPI will also be dropping and they will probably be 9 or 10 tomorrow assuming ND wins tonight. Their computer numbers really don't stand out like a Kansas or Ohio State or even a BYU. Going into today I would have had them #3, but I think if ND goes to the finals they would jump Pitt, as would the UNC/Duke team that wins the ACC. If BYU goes back to blowing out teams by 20 in their conference tourney, I could even see them jumping Pitt. I think the media just proclaimed Pitt as a guaranteed 1 based on winning the Big East regular season.

If I am not mistaken, I think UCONN was in a similar situation 2 years ago when they finshed tied for 2nd with Pitt in the BE. They lost a their Quarterfinal in 6 OTs to Cuse. They still got a number 1 along with Pitt, ND, and Lville?

It all depends on what the other bubble Number 1 seeds do. Maybe both ND and Pitt could be #1 seeds.

Would ND be better off as a #2 seed in Chicago then a #1 seed?

You beat me to that punch. I was about to look that up and got pulled away from my desk. I think the first 2 seed would be better than the last 1.

Also, TCU (11-21, 1-15 MWC) will enjoy the Big East next year and its tournament.

I wonder how they will treat that 17th team--if they will go back to top 12 teams. Maybe DePaul will just end their program (or move back to conf USA).

I think TCU could end up being competitive in the BE a couple years down the line. With regards to the Big East teams, they will have pretty much sole access to Texas, the mid-west, and some of the south and west for recruting. Combine that with playing in the Big East and (although Im not postive) probably not the highest academic standards then maybe they could compete.

With the BYU kid suspended from the team they won't get a number 1 seed. the committee penalizes teams if key players are injured or suspended.

Ohio St (1) and ND (2) in the East bracket w ND opening up in Chicago. Kansas and UNC in the Southwest bracket. Duke (1) and BYU in the West bracket. Pitt and Texas in the Southeast regional. This is ESPN's current projection. CBS's current projection has ND as a 1 seed in the West regional with their opening weekend games being played in Chicago.

Personally, I would rather them stay closer to home as a 2 seed then be out in Anaheim with no ND fans around.

Ugg I don't know about ND being a number 1 seed. There is so much pressure on being a 1 seed.

Gottlieb just said if you look at the bracket. The real Big East is at the top of the bracket and Conference USA+ND at the bottom.

So we play the winner of L'ville and Marquette. Louisville is up 36-31 at halftime. I'm not sure who I would rather play. Both teams are pretty scary, but I think Marquette just because they should be more tired.

McGibby might as well start the vBook for Louisville at Notre Dame...

It's gonna happen.

What time will the game be held?

Lunardi has ND as the 3rd #1 seed now over Pitt and Duke. I'd think that it's a done deal with a win over Louisville tomorrow.

We'd have to get royally screwed to not get a number 1 seed if we win tomorrow. I feel we have a chance at one still depending on how Duke does in the ACC tourney.

Ya, we should be ahead of Pitt regardless barring us getting blown out tomorrow which I really can't imagine. I could see us getting a #1 with a loss tomorrow still if someone other than Duke/UNC wins the ACC, but I think a win tomorrow should clinch it for us. Maybe Purdue could pass us if they beat Wisconsin and OSU and win the Big 10, but I think a win tomorrow and we're guaranteed a #1 seed. Never thought I would say/type that.

I think right now the s-curve order is probably OSU, Kansas, ND, Pitt, Duke, UNC, with Texas and Purdue still with tiny chances of running the table and getting a 1.
