Ok I am officially tired of debating about Weis's future and the loss yesterday. I am moving on.

Pitt is beatable. We will be an underdog for sure, but they arent unbeatable. We will move the ball on them we just have to punch it in in the redzone.

If we come in mentally ready to play then we can win. If not, well we will have a repeat of yesterday.

Biggest game EVER for Weis. It would be a quality road win that he can put in the bank.

Plus I f'n HATE pitt.

I cant help you. I want to believe that this team was looking ahead and tend to play up for this type of game but who knows how the loss will affect them. This team has had to dig deep so much and so often i wonder if they have anything left. They certianly are a resiliant group but there will be a time when they are just exhausted and i hope its not this week. They are certainly capable of not only beating Pitt but winning convincingly, i just dont know if they will

That said as much as i want us to win....no chance theyre beatable but our defense is the shits and they will study how navy beat us plus theyre at home....it could be close....but no cigar for us

I dont think they are going to study how Navy beat us unless they plan on running the triple option.

And our offense moved the ball all day. We didnt punt once. It was mental mistakes and missed field goals that did us in.

The one thing that encourages me is guys like Golden and Jimmy who may be in the NFL next year still are playing for draft status. If they tank it then it will cost them millions. I think the leadership on the field is strong enough. And this is what Weis has to say.....

Agreed. I mean honestly when Jimmy took that sack in the endzone with a minute left, who the hell thought this game would ultimately come down to an onside kick for us to win it (I have no doubt we would have gotten in field goal range)

A friend of mine just texted me that a ND win over Pitt would be impressive. It got me to thinking...

A road victory over a top ten Pitt team would probably be the best Irish victory in 5 years, since they beat #9 Tennessee on the road. That Volunteer team finished @ #21 with a 10-3 record.

So you might have to go back even earlier in that season to the home win over #8 Michigan who finished @ #17.

I think the last time ND beat a team who finished in the top 10 was in '02, with the home win over Michigan who finished @ #10. That season, we also beat Florida St. who finished @ #11. Looking back on that season, it's still kind of amazing that we didn't get a BCS bid. Wins over the #11 and #10 team, and were 10-2 ranked 11th. And we still ended up in the Gator Bowl. Of course, NC State trounced us, so maybe it was a good thing we didn't go to a BCS game then.

Anyway, way off topic, but bottom line: a win over Pitt on Saturday would be the biggest ND win in a long, long time.

It might not be as impressive as people think. Pitt could very well end the season with 3 straight losses and drop out of the top 25 all together. They have us, WV, and Cincinnati.

It'll be a tough win to get, no doubt about it, but out of the top 10-15 teams in the nation....Pitt scares me the least. I'm not sold on them at all. Though they did beat the same Navy team we just played by almost two touchdowns.

Stull is ranked right behind Clausen in the QB Eff Ratings numbers 3 and 5, I believe.

They leading RB is getting Tony Dorsett comparison while ours is getting his ankle scrutiinized by the trainers.

I think we have a substantial edge in WRs but if Stull is #5 on the QB rankings he must have a decent receiving corps.

Their defense is a lot more consisent than our is.
