We might be able to sneak into the NC if we go 11-1, and Florida wins out. If USC wins next week, they will be ranked #2. If we beat the #2 team in the country, we might jump #3.

I agree, with SEC teams dropping like flies, it does not help FLA - Anyone else think Florida ST. will focus on a win vs. FLA and pull it off? I do. I also think ARK beating FLA helps ND. If ND wins out they have the best shot.

One More Thing - WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!

The homers on the ESPN Message Board are in fits.

So if Notre Dame beats USC, and Florida beats FSU and Arkansas, who finishes ranked higher?

I wished Florida would have lost yesterday. They don't impress me at all. They have a pretty good defense, but that offense is mediocre at best. More evidence to prove that we would have struggled with Urbie as coach. Look at Chris Leak pre/Meyer and then look at Chris Leak now. Damn shame what he did to that guys NFL prospects. Florida will lose again before the season's over.

Even if they don't lose, I still feel like we will jump them after the USC game, and have a good chance of staying ahead even if they beat Arkansas.

I hate ESPN. Look how they add Notre Dame as a longshot as a NC contender.

"Seasons are coming to a close. Ohio State and Michigan are one game away from clinching an invitation to the BCS Championship Game. After the upsets of Saturday, the teams in genuine contention to play on Jan. 8 are Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Florida, Arkansas, Rutgers, and maybe Notre Dame."

Rutgers a contender and maybe ND?! That statement really confirms my declining opinion of ESPN and why I quit watching Sportscenter on a regular basis. Besides most of the anchors being complete shitbirds.

Florida needs to lose one game and we need to win out and Ohio State needs to lose to Michigan.

I guarantee if USC beats CAL this week and we beat USC in two weeks we will play in the national title game. No matter what else happens with FLA or whoever, if those two things happen i'll see you in Arizona. I have never been wrong on a guarantee. Write it down! We have our destiny in our hands, and that's all you can ask for.

How is it that were #5 when our only loss is to the #2 team in the country and Usc lost late against lowly Oregon State?

What if USC and Florida both lose next week and the Irish win?

USC being 3rd is GREAT for us. They should be at #2 after OSU/UM pick a loser. If we beat the Spoiled Children in 2 weeks with them at #2, there is no way we wouldn't jump Florida (assuming they've not lost before then).

Our only loss against the team that spent a bunch of time at #2
Our best win against #2...perfect.

I really don't know what is going on around college football. The amount of bias and personal opinion has gotten so out of hand. Ivan Maisel is a complete douche bag and does not know what the hell he is talking about. How do you have Arkansas as a lock for the championship and Notre Dame merely as a "maybe"? Arkansas has played a tougher schedule but they still lost and lost big. We were at least humbled by Michigan by losing by 26. Arkansas? They got MAN-HANDLED by USC at HOME-BY 33 POINTS! I swear this personal opinion thing that the media has is really annoying.

What we need to have happen:
Michigan/Ohio State gets rocked
USC beats Cal
Arkansas loses to LSU at LSU
Florida losing to Florida State at Tallahasee- (Won't happen though)
ND beats USC
Arkansas beats Florida in the SEC championship
All of these things, with the exception of the UF/FSU game, are all obtainable. I'm feeling confident about our chances.

We don't even need all that to happen. Florida can beat FSU, then lose in the SEC game to Arkansas. We do need Arkansas to lose to LSU though...

Really, it would be extremely tight between us and Arkansas if Arkansas wins out... A logical person would say that USC beat them handedly on the road, and we beat USC at home, so we should be ahead...

But by the same token, Arkansas will have beaten Florida, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee (I think)... That would be pretty tough to beat. Our only impressive wins would be USC and GT.

We should jump Florida next week just for putting a 1-aa team on their schedule. It's pathetic!

Amen, here's their OOC schedule, wow that's impressive!!!

Sep. 2 Southern Miss. W 34-7 -11
Sep. 9 UCF W 42-0
Nov. 18 Western Carolina 12:00pm
Nov. 25 at Florida State

Actually Florida's playing a powerhouse Div AA team compared with Rutgers. Western Carolina is the 206th ranked team by Sagarin while Howard is 217th. Howard jumped up from 223rd due to Rutgers recent promotion. Western Carolina should jump up to the 190's next week for just stepping on the field with Florida.

Any team that plays a Div AA team or lower division team should be banned from bowl games.

Notre Dame hasn't played a team of that calibre since the 30's.

I think you should all climb down off the pulpit where schedules are concerned.
--wtih a three service academies and a pair of the very worst teams in D1A (NC and Stanford), the Irish have played their share of cupcakes.
--ND's signature win: GT, who thumped mighty NC 7-0 this week. Florida has wins against Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU. So what if Florida had a squeaker against the bowl-bound Cocks? ND had a sqeuaker against Sparty, who won't even reach 6 wins.

I also hate the idea of rematches, except as a last resort. I don't think the Michigan-Fuckeye loser should get a rematch, unless everyone else has two losses (or has one loss and plays in the Big East). Likewise, if it came down to ND vs Florida or Rutgers for a shot at Michigan, I'd favor one of the latter two. The Irish already had their shot at Michigan.

ND wins out. That is all that matters.

The SEC ain't all that. From what I saw Friday, there isn't much superior about those teams.

Tim Tebow runs to the left every goddamned time and yet no one in the SEC knows this yet. And if they do, they look like a women's flag football team trying to stop it.

Florida got lucky and Arkansas is going to bury them.

These standings are just fine by me.

Weak. That's a lot of fear and hesitation in that quote. I think a second go around, they'd play a little bit better of a game this time.

Florida got beat by Auburn, who got their asses kicked by UGA and Arkansas. How's that for a signature?

Explain to me why it is Notre Dame's fault that Stanford and UNC suck when the schedules were made over a year ago.

Penn State has lost four games to OSU, scUM, ND and Wisconsin. Those four teams have combined for two losses. Why should Penn State not be considered a good football team.

When ND was winning 5-7 games under DavieHam, the schedule was okay with all you haters. Now they're beating these teams and all of the sudden you've got a problem with it?

Suck it up and swallow. These SEC teams play a lot of garbage outside their conference and they're not all that great to be so impressed with. The two unbeatens are in the Big Ten.
