I’ll get into the obvious but very disappointed that it took 3 drives and a fourth down to take a shot deep over middle. On the first play it was obvious they were in cover one “low” or cover 0. The first play should have been deep down middle just like Purdue and that worked 3-4 times throughout the game. It can’t take 3-4 drives to adjust to what they’re obviously trying to do. First drive we audibles to passes correctly but had terrible concepts. Second drive it was let’s go ahead and just run into 8 man box.

Washington Wagner Jeffery otting had bad blocking games. Otting kept firing to the second level and letting the NT in free, not helping our guards at all first giving them no chance. It kept happening even at the very end of the game as our runs were getting blown up. Coaches have to be better addressing that in game. Washington whiffed a bunch and Wagner just can’t move anyone. Eli wasn’t himself blocking and overall the offense wasn’t that physical. BC played harder

Never seen a long rb run look to his own sideline that long like that. Incredible

On D they played well but just weren’t locked in every play. Obvious dumb penalties and BS calls as well. Bowen played well and can cover RBs and TEs but still how he’s out there on 3rd and long or obvious passing situations covering deep middle is besides me, they kept running slants to his zone and he wasn’t even close.

Kicking is 90% coaching. To have 3 kickers that bad is obvious. We need a ST coach not a trick play coach.

really disappointed the team fixed nothing during bye week. Poor job

They got 1.5 weeks to clean it up before Pitt. That will be a tough game

To me it explains why they looked so sluggish and uninspired to start. Why aren't they arriving on a Thursday? I know its a short flight but still seems off.

Something tells me you’re wrong. Something being me. Lax posted how many offensive plays we ran. Hard to find rhythm without the ball. I wouldn’t be happy despite the D coordinator. I don’t know why guys don’t understand what I’m saying here. We’re down two starting offensive lineman. It wasn’t going to be a clean game on that end. We still had over 450 yards. I’m not trying to be argumentative with you guys, I just see things differently.

But also, while their long drives were annoying as hell, they amounted to very little (aside from keeping our offense off the field for most of the second and third quarters). In three possessions that combined for 22 minutes, all they got was three points. Because all they could do against us was short passes that our DBs kept in front of them. That puts an astounding amount of pressure on the offense to execute pretty much every time, and eventually they did not, and those drives stalled out (or ended in a pick when our relentless pressure forced a bad pass).

I don't particularly want to play that way against teams with the athletes to break one open, but BC does not have those. And I'm not going to complain about a game where we only give up 10 points.

Absolutely. And I agree. I’m not upset at them only allowing 10 points, that’s outstanding. I’m disappointed at the time of possession and the limited number of plays it allowed the offense to run and develop a plan. I think lax posted that we’ve been in the 70s and yesterday was in the 50s. That was my issue.

I think maybe he just wanted badly to be part of a historic upset so his call would live on forever. He played for ASU and I don't think we ever played against them while he was there, so I don't think it's a personal grudge. Unless he just hates ND which you know, many such cases.

Agreed. That said, if I was in the broadcast booth, I’d be doing the same thing. You know they were expecting a snoozer of a game. I bet they listened to all the ND pods that predicted 56-10 blowout while calling every aspect of BC’s game horrible

Any positive running play was a cause for celebration for BC yesterday. Their RBs had 19 carries for 30 yards. We had 12 TFLs. Their longest run of the game was six yards.

I believe they always travel on Friday except for maybe the California trips.

It also helps keep the rhythm of the week consistent because they stay at a hotel Friday night for home games as well.

De Freitas at App State grew up 30 minutes from campus and would likely come home in a heartbeat if offered. Kid set the Indiana high school record with a 62 yard FG a year ago and is 25/25 XP and 11/14 FGs as with a long of 49 as a true freshman. Maybe you argue it’s small time football at App State but he’s certainly better as a freshman than anyone we’ve got and he’s a local kid

That opening drive of the 2nd half cost us 1, possibly 2 possessions. We averaged over 8 yards a play. Now add in the red zone fumble, missed field goal, and 3 missed PAT.
