Slander of the highest order by the ratings goons.

Man of Steel is an epic. It's three movies in one, without feeling overwhelming.

IMO, Man of Steel was bad because it was so close to being great. Great effects.
Perfect cast aide from LL (who did nothing that anyone but a script writer would think would be attractive to a guy with Superman's personality). But it shot itself in the foot a few times being too adult/serious, and then really almost ruined itself with a 15 minute, totally gratuitous, Godzilla-esque fight scene that ended in Superman killing someone. You can argue that the scene worked in the plot or the killing was realistic but, again, neither were a good fit for Superman, and it was so long I actually stopped watching it and went to the bathroom (I think I've only ever done that in a similar Transformers scene).

It's Superman. Make a movie that a 35 year old can enjoy, and a 8 year old will love. Save the brooding for Batman.

I find Cap completely boring personally. He's just too straight edge and rather predictable. Don't get me wrong, you want the good guy to aspire to be Cap, but I don't think it's necessarily that entertaining to watch. He has few, if any, real flaws. Stark has his ego and for awhile the shrapnel is a major weakness. Thor is trusting and naive. Spider-Man is just a kid trying to balance the responsibilities of being a super hero and a high schooler. Banner obviously has control issues. Hawkeye deals with grief and lives for vengeance after the snap...etc, etc. What's Cap's flaw? He...fell in love with some chick back in the 40s? It doesn't really hold him back though, it's a sappy little love story that's tucked behind the main plot. The other characters are more compelling as a result of their flaws and trying to overcome them, Cap is just....Cap.

I am the exact opposite. Not everything has to be written for bored 18-35 year olds. These are comic book heroes. Give little kids a good guy or two--you already have all the Ironmans, Batmans, Wolverines, Deadpools, etc. for adults.

You can create tension through other parts of the plot, like being over-powered or being betrayed by superiors and having to chose between patriotism/loyalty and doing the right thing--or between looking like you are doing the right thing, and actually doing the right thing.

I'm here... Spiderman too really. I'm obviously not a big comic book guy but I do have quite the collection of older XMen and Iron Man comics and I've always liked Ironman and Batman., On the straight edge thing, it's funny, my XMen character was always Cyclops. He just felt cool and more complex to me in a way Cap never did. I've never been able to get into Cap, as a child or adult.

Went and saw this last night with the wife. Enjoyed the movie but..

1) The heroes were definitely scrawny looking. Were they just trying to emphasize age had taken a toll on them? Tony Stark was always scrawny but Captain America-Hawkeye- Black Panther looked a shadow of their former self. Jeez even the hulk combined with Banner was 1/2 the normal size. What the heck is this?

2) Thor was a sad disappointment. Zero purpose starting the movie and zero purpose ending the movie. Not sure what the writers were thinking here

3) They continue the role of the ultra wimpy spiderman. Geez, I grew up reading Spidey comics and I dont ever recalling him just rolling over and whining like this guy does. Really pathetic

3) Talk about shove the girl power crap down your throat some more. Basically the male tough guys are gone replaced by an ultra powerful female turn LGBT look, a female running the new Valhalla, and lol, even Tony Starks wife was busting chops in her Iron Maiden suit. Funny but even more sad. Especially nice at the end with the scene of all the girls grouping together and running together to kick butt. Jeez.

Overall was a nice show. A little long for what you got out of it. Guess this is Marvel's way of ushering in a new generation of wimpy built males and female dominated superheroes?

Almost exactly my reaction.
