-Has their been discussions about planning the peacock only game properly? The fact that the Louisville game was peacock only was ridiculous to me.

-How many analysts roles are we looking to fill?

-Do you think we still pull a high profile DPP/DoR?

Merck just curious if you can bring any insight into what the programs talent assessment protocol looks like. You mentioned they have their own internal recruit rating system and I’m just curious what that looks like. This staffs ability to develop talent at certain positions is exceptional. What are the measurable qualities and other characteristics the staff looks for that may vary from the outside ranking services. Sorry if that’s worded clunky, hope it makes sense.

In regards to the new Under Armour Deal..

How the hell did that reup happen? Was told majority of coaches wanted Nike..

Nike not come through with a remotely close enough package? (Obviously UA offered most money) No way that deal lasts the entire contract.

Coaches did want Nike. Badly. One of Freeman's first meetings after becoming coach was a sales pitch from them

UA's offer was "larger" than Nike's final....but both were close. Swarbrick gave UA the last bite at the apple...even though maybe he shouldn't have and Nike was a bit over the constant back and forth.

UA basically mortgaged their future as a company on ND. They gave ND a lot more ownership stake and power in terms of what they could tell UA to do or not do. Dollar for Dollar Nike offered more...but the fringe benefits/investment UA offered (hypothetical future earnings) pushed UA's deal "over the top"

was Swarbrick's son's position at UA significant in the decision?

Honestly...I don't think so.

I think the only thing about it that was significant was it was more of a representation of how good of a relationship ND and UA had. IMO, the larger long term relationships had more to do with it than Swarbrick's kid....plus sprinkle in a bit of Swabrick at the end not being as much of an agent of change as he had in the past.

I mean, let's be serious, if ND had flipped to Nike its not as though Swarbrick couldn't have helped his kid get a job there either after it all went down.

Yeah Jack's son having a job doesn't move the needle imo. Who's to say now that Jack is gone UA doesn't get rid of him? That was always a possibility because everyone knew that Jack was leaving soon.

Pretty much this...always felt like a narrative that wasn't really well thought out by people who just hated Swarbrick at the end.

Again, being real....so Jack's son loses his job at UA....if he doesn't end up at Nike...it's not as though Jack isn't well connected enough to just get him a gig at Notre Dame or some other elite company/organization.

I don’t think the clothing brand matters as much as it did a decade ago, but maybe I’m getting old.

- There will be a statue of Marcus Freeman outside the stadium by the time he leaves ND.

- Nobody will ever see the exact numbers, but in reality, ND is the most profitable, valuable football program in the country.

- It won't look flashy, but the new facilities will not only be the best in the country when finished, they will remain so for several years.

- Carr is going to break every meaningful QB record in ND history.
@Merckxe525 With the optimism regarding Freeman and all the national attention he is currently getting, are you/others concerned at all about him leaving for Ohio State if Day leaves or for an NFL team? Was there any substance to the rumors about him and the Bears this offseason?

No, I have no concerns about Freeman leaving for Ohio State. There was never anything of substance with the Bears.

I've heard Freeman's wife absolutely does not want anything to do with Ohio State. I understand that the Day family, collectively, was treated pretty harshly in Columbus prior to their Playoff run. Inexcusable for a guy with three young kids if you ask me, but it's Ohio State...doesn't surprise me.
