Yesterday was Christmas and you have been building up the day in your mind all year only to open the box see see a lump of coal?? I really thought we were turning the corner after the 4 wins and going 2 games with no turnovers.

We lost, that was yesterday... Navy is next. It stung, then I went to sleep. No offense and I hate your Christmas sucked, most on here got a crappy Christmas gift too... We were outplayed, plain and simple. Ain't gonna give U$C props either; they can still :kissmy:

So true OP. I built my whole week in anticipation for the game, and then a massive egg was laid on the field. Fight another day though buddy......

It was disappointing, but if I was a USC fan I wouldn't be too thrilled. As terrible as N.D. played in the first half, the Trojans should've been able to bury the Irish. Without that 14 point turnaround thanks to Crist's fumble and the massive momentum shift with it, I think Dame wins. As for USC, I think Stanford will beat them easily.

I don't think we saw the same game bro. USC was cornholing us. They were going up and down the field at will. I loathe the fact that Stanford is now an automatic L in my column. Not just an L but an absolute double fisting.

No matter how you try to keep it upbeat and positive the eloquence of phork is correct. Up and down the field and the better team not only won but dominated. Yes there was a fumble mistake but that happens to inferior teams trying to play over their head. Lets face it we are still not in the class of southern cal and to put it bluntly more like Northwestern/Pitt/Syracuse/Maryland/Wake. Sounds to me like a conference we could do ok in. Back to reality boys and there is no real games of significance left to win and prepare for an @$# whippin by Stanford. It'll look like a bug on the windshield of a Mack truck. I love this program and like everyone else make heroes out of my Irish but now its obvious to me the state of this football program. Capt Jack has done all that he could and really Kelly is a fine coach but they just dont have the horses no matter how much we try to spin it. There must come a time in the future when the administration says ok lets win/bring 'em in. There must come a time in the future when Notre Dame gets tired of mediocrity. Watching that game last night I saw 2 guys 'maybe' that southern cal would even want on their team. This effort and the way this season has played out has set the clock back and now as I said you have no important enough games left to win. The score of this game was not even close to how one team outplayed the other. Spin it all you want there are no excuses for that bad a game.

Stanford won, but not easily. So much for that prediction.

We will beat Stanford if we don't turn the ball over. We were better than everybody we played this year including USC. Vote no turnovers.

While I agree that we would have a shot against Standord (just like any ame this year if we have no turnovers). With that said do you really tink Tommy Reese can play against a team like Stanford's defense with no turnovers? I think we have a better chance of having Tommy throw at least 3 ints and fumble at least once. If he doesn't throw 3 ints it will be because Kelly brings in Dayne after seeing enough. We will then speculate who gets te start for our Bowl game for 30 days. I would love to see Tommy take us to victory and play great and shut up the Tommy doubters (like me) but I just don't think it is in the cards.

I think we would roll Standord. I think Stanford is going to roll us.

Head and shoulders better? Thats kind of a stretch. Even with the fumble at the 1 yard line we were still in the game with like 3 mins left. If Cierre catchs that lateral pass, he's looking at a ton of green open field, which is probably the reason he took his eyes off of the ball. He catchs that pass ND is within striking distance to score.

USC had 14 pts of turnovers, which were the usual self inflicted and mind boggling mistakes, but nothing that USC caused.

USC deserved to win the game, but to say they were "head and shoulders better", is just not true.

If we don't beat ourselves with these assinine mistakes we make, then we will beable to hang with Stanford. But, those mistakes are a part of our game, so it doesn't look good.

Yes. And no, it's not a stretch. We were also in the Fiesta Bowl game, against Ohio State, in the 4th quarter. But tOSU was a much better team, too.

Wow you compared the USC game to the Fiesta Bowl game with Mr. Quinn?

The ultimate stretch.

Since you seem to have trouble following the logic:

I was not comparing the two games. I was using the Fiesta Bowl as an example, to back up my contention that the closeness of the score can sometimes belie the gulf between the two teams. There's an old saying, that the best team doesn't always win the game. A close game does NOT always indicate that neither team is much better than the other.

Yeah logic has always been my downfall. I just have a hard time comparing the talent level of USC/ND this season to the OSU/ND game of 2005.

I understand your meaning, I just feel you presented a poor example. Sorry if i'm not on your level. :awesomewo

Look, it was kind of harsh of me. But it drives me nuts, to see people constantly do what you did. Someone brings up a past game, as an example of some point they are trying to make, and everyone jumps on them for trying to compare the two games.

No hard feelings?
