Andrew Luck

I personally dislike him, but that's not what this thread is about. Luck gets slobbered over by sports analysts more than any player in recent memory except Tebow. The difference is, people despise Tebow, while most are ambivalent about Luck.

I've asked people if they dislike Tebow so much because of his expressions of belief. Most say no (probably lying) and say it's because he gets so much media coverage. Luck is pretty much all that the talking heads discuss when they're talking about college football, yet he is not nearly as hated. When watching Stanford play, like tonight, it is sickening to hear how much the guys in the booth lust after Luck. So I was just curious about how you guys feel about Luck and whether you have any insight on the matter (why he's not hated like other overhyped players).

I think he's an awesome player. I love his fire that he plays with and I feel like he's the next great NFL qb.

I think that most of the Love for Luck is the fact that he is a perfect mold for an NFL QB. They talk about him being so great, but he does everything right. Plus, he is not playing with the thugs in Florida, and taking a previously horrible program to a BCS game most likely. Those are just my thoughts on it.

Well, I have no problem with people slobbering all over Luck. Hell if he was our QB we would all be slobbering all over him. Also he seems to genuinely care about getting an education (coming back this year to graduate, and in a hard major, engineering I believe, unlike Leinart who came back and took ballroom dancing), is intelligent and seems to be a good kid who hasn't bought into all the hype. I wish him the best besides when he plays against ND.

Unlike Tebow, people know Luck could literally be the next Elway or Manning. Tebow was a great COLLEGE player...and that's all he'll ever be. Personally, I got sick and tired of the incessant Tebow BJ'ing being done by the media. But I also have to admit, Tebow was a d@mn good college player (he also was the beneficiary of some freak-level type athletes playing along side him-- both on O and D).

I think the knob-slobbin' of Luck is almost in anticipation of what we will all witness from him in 5, 6, 8 years to come. Tebow's knob-slobbin' was knowing that that would be the best we'd ever see him.

Yep, you are correct it is architecture, which is a very difficult major and we would do enough slobbering all over him for the rest of the world.

I just hope the Colts can get him so Peyton can show him the ropes and mentor him. Luck should make for one heck of an NFL QB. Peyton doesn't have too many years left.

As a colts fan i think he is the future of the franchise, and i like the fire he plays with, i also like the fact that he stayed for one more year

Going to be an interesting race to see who gets Luck. I think Miami is playing to win Luck too.

Yes Dayne was a consensus five star but Luck was a top 100 player to I believe

Why don't you watch some of Luck's games. I think you'll see that the passes he's completing, Rees could never throw. I'm not going to get into this right now. I just wanted to see the feeling on Luck.

Luck is a once in a generation type of talent. H3ll, he'll probably be rated as high as Manning and perhaps higher than Elway by the time the draft comes around.

Rees is a 30-guys-a-year type of talent.

I hear what you're saying, but comparing Rees (or pretty much any QB in ___ years), is unfair and unwise.

I despise Stanford. I hate that ****ing tree, I hate their band. I hate how much Luck gets blown in the media, etc. Most of all, I'm jealous that other elite academic schools have good football teams. I'm probably also jealous that Stanford has a good qb and we don't, and by extension, I hate that qb.

Check that, I'm jealous that elite academic schools have *better football teams. I basically get the most angry when a school I could have gone to does much better than ND. Thus, I hate Michigan, if Vandy ever becomes good, I'll hate them, I hate Stanford, if NW is ever good, I'll hate them. Irrational yes, but isn't all fandom irrational?
