If memory serves, Hendrix's other top schools included Ohio State and Tenn, who were both in need of a top QB. Both now have two QBs committed and Florida has one - Burton - out of 24 current commitments. Elam has now switched back to Fla.

Without any defections, they must be getting close to maxing out on scholarships (17 LOIs last year). So far, in addition to 1 QB this year, they have only 1 OL (5 last year) and 1 LB (2 last year).

OL - Gators are still in play for Henderson, James and Green (all in top 10 for their position). Green has Tenn as leader. Florida is high for the other two per Rivals.
LB - Gators are high for Hicks and Jones (both in top 5 for their position)

If they get three of the five, they are up to 27 commitments.

No question that as far as QB development in a pro system that Weis was the draw. Hendrix is exploring options, using up an official visit, but will probably still stay with us.

Listen, it's better to do some research first before you make wild accusations that are not based on anything but misguided anger. Read through the threads, and then if you still feel like you do, post away. But I doubt you would if you read through the threads.

First of all, Kelly has talked to Hendrix...a lot. He even visited with him and spoke to him personally, putting a lot of Hendrix' worries to rest. But not all of his worries. So Hendrix is checking out FL to see if it is a better fit. THAT IS NOT ON KELLY.

So you think Charlie would have had this class sewn up huh? Have you ever heard of Omar Hunter? How about Justin Trattou? Nyshier Oliver? Need any more names? All those guys were committed to ND, and CW lost them. Have you ever heard of Brian Cushing? When Ty was our coach, he was committed to ND. When Ty was fired, he started looking around. CW was hired, but he couldn't keep Cushing from committing to SC, becoming an All-American and later a first round draft pick. But CW would have sewn this class up huh?

We can all agree that CW was one hell of a recruiter, but yes, even he lost guys.

Now let's talk about Kelly recruiting 24/7. Ummm, that's pretty much what he's been doing other than hiring a staff (which takes time because of ND's exhaustive background checks - thank you O'Leary). He's already met with and received solid reviews from: Shembo, Moore, Nix, Wood, Boyd, Roberson, Jones, Utopo, Lombard, Rees, and probably others I'm missing. EVERY COMMIT HAS BEEN IMPRESSED BY HIM. He's also met with important recruits like Anthony Barr (whose mother was very impressed). He's been on the horn with every top recruit and has plans to visit them as well. Nothing but positive reviews from recruits outside of Josh Shirley, who the ND guys fell has always been lukewarm on ND despite his insistence that he MIGHT visit.

As for his staff and recruiting, every single one of them, once they were officially hired, went immediately out on the recruiting trail. Henderson's family already received a visit, and the coaches were barely even hired.

As for Diaco, that's been hashed and rehashed on his thread. I don't blame people for not being excited, but look a little closer before you talk crap about his defense's FL performance. And if you wanted to big name hire, how did Tenuta work out for us? Just go read that thread for more thoughts on that, and post your thoughts there.

My suggestion to you is to buy a subscription to Rivals, Scout, Blue and Gold, or ISD. Or just read the threads on this site a lot closer, and then you won't sound like you don't know what you're talking about. Because saying that Hendrix hasn't been talked to, or that CW would have sewn this class up, or that Kelly needs to start recruiting, is simply not true, and quite frankly, ridiculous...

You made your point in the previous response. Now you are just boring me to death.

.....They don't look at Brian Kelly the same way....

that is exactly what they wanted when they fired Weis...

too bad we can't talk to Nick again.....give him one last chance at glory.

Montana that is.

/spittake!!

The sky is falling.... the sky is falling.
RELAX. Kelly is doing fine.
I'm not worried about him at all.
Give it time.
If he didn't call Hendrix... it's probably because Hendrix doesn't fit!

No time to relax, Notre Dame has tons of catching up to do. the situation is critical.

....Kelly has been successful with QBs less recruited than Hendrix before......

any of those QB's beat the likes of Florida, USC, Texas, Alabama, LSU? thats the type ND needs.

BREAKING NEWS..... THE GUY HE COMMITTED TO ISN'T HERE ANYMORE!!!!

I cant agree more. His guy (weis) was ran out of town!! (please see 'Clausen and Tate to NFL' for reference) If I were him in this situation, my options would be open too.

I wonder if Kelly brings in Henderson and/or Prater people will shut the hell up about his recruiting.

with the recent developments with regards to Pete CArroll and Urban Liar....Do you think CW would have landed any of those borderline recruits had he not been fired?? Does Kelly have the same shot at those same recruits???

I hate to break it to you pal, but that was my only response. Go look through the thread...that was my only post before this one. I take it you got me confused with the other 11 people that hammered you on this thread. Like I said, you should probably do a little more reading before you throw out wild accusations. That is all. (hopefully this was short enough not to bore you)

Clausen and Tate were gone before Charlie got fired. They were gone by about the SC game when it was clear they were both first rounders.

Weis may have gotten Prater and Henderson and kept the class in tact, but I saw enough of his coaching to know that he wasn't good enough on Saturdays.

QBs don't beat other teams, teams beat other teams. I know what you are saying, but I don't think the situation is critical.

Maybe Hendrix went down to Florida for a free vacation and to escape the Ohio cold. Oh to be a national recruit!

Hendrix

I said that he committed to ND because they were pro-style (as he said himself a number of times). I did not say that he would not play in a differnt offense- like Florida's. Charlie's background was one of the major factors that separated ND fomr his other choices. That factor is gone. Long story short, choosing between ND and other schools like OSU (and now UF) now looks differnt now than it did 2 months ago.

I personally beleive C. Weis was given too much credit for the success Brady has at NE. He was the OC..not the qtrbk coach. While a few recruits...mainly offensive types ...may have chosen ND because of C. Weis background, I bet many others turned away from ND, based on the success or lack thereof he was having as head coach and an obvious inability to coach defense. Hendrix will come to realize that his future, both as a football player and a life-long career, will best be attained by attending ND. All he needs to do is take a good look at the graduation rate of FL football players and also look at the degrees for those that do graduate....sports mgt., sports history, sports communications, family planning. etc.

? I can still post?

Guess I'll have to retake Thread Closing 101 over again.

?Can you just merge this with his recruitment thread?

Can I, yes. (If I did a better job than I did closing this thread the first time.)

Will I, NO!

Had the thread opener read the Hendrix's Profile his question about Hendrix would not have been necessary. But this Thread really wasn't about Hendrix the poster really wanted to rant about Kelly. He would have had those Kelly questions answered had he bothered to read the Kelly threads. Hendrix seems to have questions of his own about Kelly, QB Coach/OC and The System. He doesn't need the rants of the unread to further cloud his decision.
