Both of those guys had been Head Coach at some level, in these cases the NFL. Got any good examples of someone w/ no head coach experience being successful at the college level? I doubt it.

you mean no HC experience in the NFL right?

so...when does the "clock start"...their first college HC job after leaving the NFL as anything but a HC right?

last question How do you define "successful at the collge level"? (winning a NC?...winning a bowl game?...X wins over X amount of years?...graduating all their players?...X amounbt of college lifetime wins?)

Running a program successfully over a period of years. Meaning turning programs into championship caliber competing teams. See Kelly, Brian or Hoke, Brady, etc.

Graduation of players is also a good thing. Being an NFL head coach has zero bearing on your ability to coach college age kids and in my opinion counts for nothing.

There is one in sitting at #2 in the BCS right now, and playing in the NC game next month. Is that a good enough example?
