Pop Tarts guy sounds like he knocked back a few before he made that call!
Had the same thought. But he almost assuredly lives in the Orlando area, and sounds well past retirement age. It's just as likely he's had a stroke at some point and his speech was affected.

ND Beat writes WAY to busy propping up Miami and slamming ND every chance they get

That wasn't biased at all. Hahaha
Oh, for sure.

I am not super familiar with his work to know what his usual views on ND are (they seem pretty negative just based on that article).

I thought it was interesting because it's the first story that I've seen from a major media outlet that's actually suggested that endgame instead of simply saying that it's a temper tantrum with no real purpose beyond "lashing out."

Dan Wolken at Yahoo seems to think that Pete's end game is to get out of the ACC
What little credibility he had (I think everyone hates this guy) was lost when he started posting on X how much better his alma mater, Vandy; is better than ND based on schedule. And he continued to double down when people challenged him.

When are these so called “Journalists” going to be held accountable for carrying water for their respective alma maters while supposedly covering CFB as a national reporter?

Wolken - Vandy
Bruce Feldman - Miami (and was one of my all-time favorites in the CFB world, but he couldn’t resist)
Chris Fallica - Miami
Andrea Adelson - Miami

I’m sure there are others but zero backlash from their peers for that.

In part, because they are columnists. Otherwise known as opinion writers. Journalism need not apply.

You won't see backlash from the media, because all of their jobs rely on content. ND flipping off the Pop Tarts Bowl could set a precedent for other teams down the line to bail as well. If that happens, the 30+ meaningless bowl games outside the playoffs start to shut down, ESPN loses a ton of cheap content that they make hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue on, and all the yahbo's that cover CFB have a lot less to write about. Less clicks = less money. For most of the college football media world, this is an existential threat to their livelihoods. They will do everything in their power to ensure ND fails and force the Irish to join a conference, so they can be controlled by the ESPN in the High Tower. Some real deep state shit.

Agreed, but the corporate overlords have obviously been whispering in people's ears about shutting out the Irish, which is why you see that asshat from the Big12 spewing garbage about ND's 'egregious' behavior. When ND signed on as an associate member of the ACC 10 years ago, that agreement said that if the Irish joined any conference as a full time member, it had to be the ACC. If Pete manages to nuke that agreement with his threats to expose and/or litigate the ACC's coordinated efforts to torpedo ND's access to the CFP, who does he affiliate the football program with? I have a bad feeling that ESPN and their minions will try to squeeze the Irish to go to either the Big10 or SEC as a full member, the Irish push back, and Pete has to go nuclear and pull out the RICO statutes and litigate, which will be long, expensive, and painful for all involved.

ESPN doesn’t have a contract with the big ten, so I can’t see them pushing the Irish that way.

They don't have one with the Big12 either, do they? I thought they were with FOX.

I find it so hard to believe that the ACC could be this stupid. But then I reflect on any decision they’ve ever made and it all clicks.
