since 1980 Michigan is 13-12 and 1 tie vs the Irish, that is a rivalry. Recent history hasn't been kind to you, but it hasn't been kind to us vs. the bucks either but that doesn't mean I've forgotten about the Cooper ( <3 ya Coop ) years. I really think once Kelly gets going in SB y'all will be a contender again.

That's interesting. I would have thought it favored UM because it always seemed to be back and forth when I was growing up and obviously lately Michigan has had our number.

As much as it hurt losing to SC every year you knew they were just the better team. But I feel like ND has been the better program the last 3 years (especially '09 and '11 maybe not '10) but all the breaks seem to go in Michigan's favor. I see both programs getting stronger going forward, just sucks that ND couldn't win a couple of these close ones.

On my list of rivalries, ND is #2 still. I really hate ND but I also really respect ND for the history they've had. It's kind of hard to believe Michigan and ND have met only 39 times. If you read the book "Natural Enemies: Michigan vs ND" you'll understand why. Highly recommend reading that, great book.

And remember now, it was Michigan who TAUGHT the ND students in the late 1880s how to play football.

Another comment deleted. Fine, I'll extricate myself from this Wolverines lovefest. Let me reiterate my fervent hope that UM totally outplays both MSU and OSU in the first 3 quarters and loses to both in the final minute.

I think you should be more focused on THIS weekend for ND than worrying about Michigan. I hope ND wins Saturday.

Oh I'm worried about MSU, don't get me wrong. But I really hope you get a taste of what we've been going through. And then I really hope some MSU/OSU fan comes on Mgoblog with a pic of the scoreboard and tells you good job, and then the other Mgoblog posters fawn over him.

Doubt it will happen. Also, you can't put pics in your signatures there...

Hmm well they have been against yours. :awesomewo

Dominant, no. Good at ripping our hearts out of our chests... no doubt.

Just spent some time at MGoBlog. Reminded me of why I don't bother with other teams' message boards.

When it comes to who won the games, Michigan has dominated since 2006.

I'm not here to start fights, but when someone challenges me about Michigan, I'm gonna give my rebuttal.

And taunting us, even our less than reasonable posters, is a quick way to get yourself banned. I was trying to move the conversation in a more positive direction.

I'd argue that domination is more about how you win than just Ws and Ls, but to each his own.

If you think winning by 4 with two seconds left is domination that's fine. I'm done with this thread. I'm sure the others here will oblige you with love for Michigan. As a rhetorical question, let's say the tables were turned and one of us made comments like you have except on Michigan's boards. Do you think we would be treated as politely as you have? Based on um fan behavior even after wins, I seriously doubt it.

You beat us.......... A few bad mistakes on our part. You guys have more problems then we do. You guys were in desperation mode in the second half. You have a running QB. but he cant throw a decent football when he has to. he was all over the place. You beat Notre Dame ...... Good luck with the rest of your season because from what i have seen at of you guys. you have alot more to worry about on both sides of the ball. Congratulations again ...good luck next week......................................................

I don't know about you, but telling a fan of the team that just ripped our collective hearts out for the 3rd consecutive year, "You guys really aren't that good..." doesn't make me feel better.

They beat us, so we have a vested interest in seeing them do well now.

Seriously? This same cat was on here last year to "congratulate" us on a good game. He obviously loves to rub it in. It's a poorly disguised backhanded compliment, and I hope that he gets all he deserves in life. He is a poor sport, and I feel sorry for him (almost as much as I do for our program at the moment). That's all the more time I will waste addressing this situation.

Good night, and good luck.

Check the scoreboard, brah... We lost. They can say what they want and we have to eat it....that is until they get banned, but to cry about it is just pee'ing up a rope.

Stop acting like an a$$ and your comments won't get deleted. It's not a Wolverines lovefest...when a rival acts like a jackass they get banned. The mods have been banning trolls left and right the past 2 weeks, far more than you'll ever know. And yes, some of them have been UM trolls. However, these 2 haven't said anything out of whack to get them banned. Matter-of-fact, you and your buddy have been far more embarrassing in your responses (many of which have been deleted).

The 2 UM posters already know that this isn't a smack-talking site, and to be honest, considering what retrn2glry wrote Sunday, they have shown far more restraint than many of us fans have. Again, when they start to be asses, they'll be gone as we're not going to waste our time talking to trolls (that's what scout and rivals and espn sites are for, not here). But personally, it's good to hear from what a (sane) rival has to say about the upcoming match-ups. The USF fans (for the most part) were cordial and gave us great insight on their team, despite the fact that many of us were (wrongly) predicting a blow-out and were laughing at them. These two UM fans (some say the OP is gloating, and if he is, well, when it becomes obvious we'll all know and he'll be gone...but we're not going to ban him for basically nothing) have been fine so far.

That's not to say this will become a Meatchicken love fest. Muck Fichigan. But as long as they are respectful and don't overpost (yes, Spartan96, I'm talking about you), they're fine...

Fine, I guess I can see how he isn't one of the worse trolls. However, I believe jaker nailed it as far as the op's intentions. Whatever, like I said I'm done with this clown. I won't comment on the thread again. As I have said, I hate Michigan at least twice as much as any other team on the schedule. So to lose is one thing but then to see this guy post what I saw as gloating and a taunt, and to see him be welcomed was pretty infuriating. My bad. But still, F*ck michigan and I hope Kelly runs up the score next year.

Our lacrosse, soccer and soon-to-be-finished hockey arenas are all nicer than our football stadium. That is so sad.

Enough "tradition"... give me a well-done jumbotron and field turf.

This is my favorite post in the thread.

This thread never should have got to 8 pages.

I'm on the side of many here that IMO it is gloating. But I do not respond to it because it just feeds the fire and the OP succeeded in what he was set out to do...to ruffle feathers.

I also agree with LA that some of the things posted here were embarrassing for ND fans. Nothing good to say then just ignore it and enjoy the other meaningful threads on this site.

I'm a Michigan fan - and posted a few comments last week. I'm not here to "gloat" - or rub anything in - but, share a few comments - and, you guys can react as you wish.

First, that game was one of the most exciting games I've ever watched. And - I was in South Bend in 2010 for the Michigan game - and can remember Harry Oliver kicking (I think) a 51 yarder into the wind (of course toward Touchdown Jesus) many years ago.

I thought that the game plan that Kelly put together was solid. Forcing Michigan / Denard Robinson (DR) to go through the air was critical. The ND D shut down the Michigan run game, and it was really a one sided contest through three quarters. ND - through its coverage on D and DR's inability to hit receivers through most of the first half - really created a one sided game. Time of Possesion, # of plays, etc. - were all significantly in ND's favor at halftime and through three quarters of the game.

ND's use of Floyd and Wood was solid. Rees showed a lot of composure and was both able to read the blitz packages and hit the hot receiver. I don't know if Michigan was "poor" in hiding the blitzes, or Rees was "good" at picking them up - it really doesn't matter - Rees and the coaches deserve credit for good preparation / recognition.

The turnovers cost ND the game. The one INT near the Michigan end zone could have been explained by coverage, and with more experience - Rees probably won't throw that ball. I've seen similar throws by younger QB's - it happens, and (for ND's sake) hopefully it won't happen much in the future.

One "big" area to focus on (again, in my opinion) - were the 3rd down / short yardage situations that were stopped. Maybe a play action call would have worked better - but, ND needs to do a better job in the execution of that situation when they play Michigan State and Stanford.

To Michigan's credit - they kept plugging away and never threw in the towel. Obviously, a lot of Michigan's yardage came through the air - and was the result of either "jump balls" or seemingly underthrown passes where Michigan's receivers came back and the ND secondary either 1) played the man instead of the ball, or 2) failed to pick up the ball early enough to make a solid play.

Michigan's D also adjusted throughout the game - though I don't know if the adjustments were effective. There were several "big" gains - 15 yards or more - on the ground. Kelly seemed to be focused on a balanced game plan (rushing / throwing) - and though I'm unsure of the split, I'm guessing it was a bit more "pass" than "run". With the way ND / Wood was rushing the ball, it might have been better to just pound it out on the ground when up by 14.

As a Michigan fan - I'm all too familiar with "turnover-itis", and its painful. BK and the staff need to focus on bringing those numbers down to "reasonable" figures - which is two or less per game. If they are able to do that, I'm guessing ND wins a number of games this year.

One final comment - maybe the ND administration will schedule next year's games at night.

I'm respectful of the ND program, and wish you fans and your team success this season.

Until we meet again - on September 22nd, 2012 in South Bend.

^This is an excellent post. When you want good interaction between fans of opposing teams, this should be the model. Not the poorly-disguised backhanded compliments of the op. Unlike 90% of Michigan fans, he realizes that the game could have gone either way and that both teams made mistakes. If all of them were like you, I wouldn't hate Michigan fans as much. Good game, and I can't wait for the rematch.

Agreed. His post was an excellent, fair-minded analysis.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't look forward to these games. Over the last six years, our 1 win was pretty meaningless (D!ckRod's first year) but each loss has been more painful than the last.
