Where were you when the Twin Towers fell? I was picking my cousin up for us to go to school. BTW, please don't make this topic political, OK?

I was working in a gated community with a partner,he called me on the radio and said his wife called him and said a plane crashed into one of the towers. I remember we were talking about how a pilot could make a mistake that big. When she called us back a little later to tell us it happened again, we knew something was very wrong.

Still the saddest day of my life....

3rd grade in a circle doing a weird story time where you go around and make up a line at a time. Wasn't my class, but the one next to it. My friend left for home because his cousin and family live in NYC area. We didn't watch it on the TV because we were too young. When I got home I watched the news with my Mom.

Funny how you remember every detail, especially for me only being in 3rd grade

Stationed in Korea. It was night time and I was on swing shift. I walked into work with no idea of what had happened. TV in the breakroom was showing the towers still smoking before they fell. I didn't know it was real and asked what movie they were watching. The people watching informed me that it was the news and live coverage. The base was locked down within hours and our aircraft were up on alert within 12 hours. Spent all of our time at work or in our dorm rooms for the next few days. I don't believe I have ever cried more about an event that didn't involve me or my family directly.

I agree with no.1IrishFan; probably the saddest day (or several days as it was covered) in my life, at least as an American and a Veteran.

In college, off-campus housing, sleeping (it was very early on the west coast). My roommate woke me up and told me we were being attacked. We sat their shocked and just watched the TV all day. Stunning. Chilling. Sadness is a feeling mentioned a lot, as well it should be, but I was even more pissed that these evil, hate-filed psychopaths were ruining/killing the lives of innocent people who have nothing to do with their bullshit jihad. I'm pissed just thinking about it.

**Also, I take this opportunity every year to teach my Catholic School students about the evils of HATE, and what cowards do to solve their 'problems'. I also paint a pretty vivid picture of what all the firefighters, policemen, and even 'regular' people went through that day. They're so young (5th grade), that they are shocked by the stories I tell/show. One of my favorite 'teaching moments' every year, because you can really see the shock in their faces, and the sadness/wonderment in their faces (as if, why on the hell would anybody do that to other people?). I never get more questions asked in a lesson than I do my 9/11 lesson.

God bless all those heroes who stepped up to the plate that day. We cannot honor them enough...

I was woken up by a scream. My lady yelled at me to wake up and watch the t.v. It was within seconds after the first plane hit. When I saw the first building go down, it was as if my insides were torn out.

In the car when the radio station broke in with breaking news. Got to the office and turned on the TV in the office conference room. When I saw the gash I expected the building would come down. As I watched the second one get hit, I had no doubt.

It was 3 days before I learned my fraternity brother, George Strauch, was on the 99th floor. He still is.

Honestly though, the first plane I just thought was a crappy pilot, the second came in and everyone knew something was wrong.
