The Dan Novakov who is the HS HC at Parish Episcopal was a walk on QB at ND & ND grad...I am not sure that he ever played in a game during his ND days.

However

His Dad, also named Dan Novakov is a slightly more famous former ND football player.
His Mom was a St Mary's grad.

The father played HS football at Moeller high in Cincinnati for Gerry Faust
Dan Novakov Sr was a member of Ara's 1968 ND recruiting class - a center.
I believe Novakov was the 1st of many Moeller football players to come to ND

As a soph in '69 Novakov was 2nd team center....but was moved to left tackle and started in the Cotton Bowl...replacing All American LT Jim Reilly, whom is was stated was hurt.....later it was rumored that Reilly simply did not want to play-having not signed up for an 'extra' game..and all the added practices that this entailed....a rumor/legend still around today

As a junior in '70, Novakov was the Irish starting center and once again played in the Cotton Bowl....this time the Irish won, beating #1 Texas & ending their 30 game winning streak.

Novakov started again in '71.........a 3 year letterman & 2 yr starter for the Irish

After getting a law degree, Novakov settled in Texas....he was named to the Board of the Cotton Bowl in 2006 & became the Chairman of the Cotton Bowl in 2014......supposedly the 1st ever Chairman who had ever actually played in a Cotton Bowl game(and he played in two)
