I think the problem for Josh is that the 4.5 preceded him. The NFL guys can be too analytical at times. He was successful those 5 starts for the Eagles he had. He was successful in the limited time with the Jets. But I think NFL guys get too hung up on "things," which results in someone being cast aside. No way Josh couldn't have worked as a backup RB for longer than 4 years outside of the fact that he wasn't someone execs fell in love with in the beginning.

Absolutely. NFL guys get way too hung up on numbers sometimes. Kyren and Hamilton were too slow to play their positions effectively some people said. Those people are idiots.

Adam’s wasn’t a good receiver and he was pretty inconsistent as a pass blocker. He was an acceptable runner.

There were far too many other options at RB that were better receivers and pass blockers for him to stick.

Yup, gotta be a complete back if you're going to the next level. It was a problem for Dexter and other guys that never fully honed their skills outside of running the ball (He did get better his last year of college, but not good enough for the pros)

Issue with Adams is that, when he got an open lane to run through, he was off to the races. But when he didn't, he was kinda stuck in neutral. The Georgia game pretty much exemplified Adams' shortcomings (not just his but to the point), he struggled to make that first initial move in the backfield. Adams wasn't going to get a lot of open lanes that game, he needed to be shifty and display good power and balance. That's a game where if you swap out Adams with Kyren, ND probably wins that one, because Kyren did both of those extremely well, despite being 5'9 195 soaking wet.

Kyren lacked that 2nd gear to consistently take open lanes to the house, but he could turn what likely would be negative or net zero plays and turn them into positive ones.
