Serious question. What do you guys think the odds of him ultimately committing to the Irish are? I know at this point it's just an educated guess but I know some of you on here have a little more insight.

I’d say 25% max. I feel like one of the only people bullish on him coming here is Big Shawn… and we know how much that means

I think the odds change if love comes on board. Hopefully that's very soon. I dig mpemba more than anyone.

Love definitely helps but as it gets in to the season and with an OV to the clemson game the mood of the season and relative success between top suitors could play a larger factor than we often see with recruits we pursue.

Less than 10%.

I'd say at this point, ND has to land a high 4 or 5 star end to compensate for the loss of Keeley.

Some 3-star "diamond in the rough" isn't getting it done anymore.

Disagree on the DL. Our DLine had been championship level for a couple years now without being littered with 5 star or even high 4 star talent. The skill positions is a different story, and obviously this is as long as the DL development doesnt fall off post Elston.

Our two, most recent, “elite” pass rushers were low 4 star “developmental” guys that burst onto the scene during their Sophomore seasons. If you can find that, I’d say we’ll be alright.

I agree but who the hell are they?

They were actually 3 stars on some sites if I recall correctly. The proverbial diamonds in the rough. Better known as exceptions to the rule.

Ogundeji is the poster boy for 3 star diamond in the rough and after one season, is starting for the Falcons.

Yea, he had a great ability to project guys that either physically or experience wise were behind other “ranked” prospects, and then was able to coach them up to become the player he envisioned. It wasnt pleasing to the crowd who want to see stars, but he was one of the best in the country at it while at ND. I think most level headed fans couldnt help but think he could have gone after guys that were easier to project or further along in their development coming out of high school, and what that could have looked like.
Great D line coach, awful D coordinator.

So a good strategy is to steel the DE’s that Elston recruits. Who’s he got his eye on?

Ever since Elston left ND, I haven't seen much of what he has done at Michigan recruiting wise.

#127 Overall Enow Etta, #243 Overall Collins Acheampong, 3 Star Chicago kid Brooks Bahr and an unranked international kid. Pretty developmental group. Exactly what I would call his typical sweet spot. 2 of Michigan’s Top 3 commits.

Harbaugh took a torpedo to Michigan recruiting with the NFL stuff plus both coordinators are NFL non recruiting dog types. Elston’s sweet spot has always been Top 150 - high 3 star type but Michigan recruiting is just beyond dead right now because of the top. Position coaches can only do so much

Time to go poaching. Etta’s tape looks good.

He was, I remember seeing him as one of the only future visits on the list

Thanks, upon further review I checked Rivals and he has 4 officials booked to UGA 11/5, Tenn 11/12, LSU 11/19, Miami 11/26. He has a 5th open, but won't hold my breath.

Bummer. Was always a long shot once NIL became important, but still had hope since he loved ND last fall.

I have a feeling Notre Dame will be like that one smart sexy chick everyone says they had a crush on and wonder what things would have been like but she lived in a trailer and wasn’t sure how much fun they could have since she was broke. So they dated the rich prom Queen and now they all work for the trailer trash girls husband….

Notre Dame has so much to offer in this world of NIL but they are getting in their own way.

This analogy is way too specific to just come out of thin air……..
