I would imagine this would be a tough pull from the instate "Tight End U" school...

Nebraska is really the home school for him and the perceived favorite as of now. Lives about an hour from campus and has been there 4 times, I believe.

Is ND's intent to take two TE? This would be a nice signing, but Nebraska and Iowa for an Iowa kid? Rough.

If Fidone wants in, he's a take, and there is a ton of mutual interest here. What Berrong decides to do from there is on him. I'm not sure you'll see ND push for any other TE prospect in this class.

I think that even the ND staff was a little surprised when Berrong committed. To me, this is a total power move by BK and staff to continue to go after the best of the best at skill positions. To best answer the question... I think it's Fidone or nothing unless Berrong looks around. Berrong remains the biggest flight risk, IMO.

I’d take Thomas Fidone, Brock Bowers, Michael Trigg, and Cane Berrong. Bowers and Trigg can both play DLine. I think ND’s smart to go after them all cause there’s a lot of positional flexibility with them.

I don't think either Bowers or Trigg are being recruited for TE. I'm not sure either has come out and said they have a preference either way, but as far as I know, ND likes them both on the other side of the ball.

Bowers recently said that ND is recruiting him for whatever he wants, TE or Vyper. I’d bet they’d take both Fidone and Bowers if possible, even if both wanted to play TE. I Just get the hunch the staff will go over numbers for some of these high profile guys.

Hell, they'd take Trigg at WR. He's Claypool 2.0

And if there was some possible way Fidone, Bowers & Trigg wanted to come, they're coming.

I agree and Bowers and Trigg are extremely versatile. The more I see of Bowers the more I'm impressed I get and could see him end up being an Elite TE, Drop or Vyper. Trigg is even more versatile as I think he could be a TE, WR, S, ROVER, VYPER or Drop.

I would deploy as many tight ends on the field at the same time as legally possible.

QB, 5 OL and 5 TE. Have them running around everywhere.

Probably an acquired taste.

kid committed to Nebraska back in August over Iowa and LSU. Wasn't deterred by Cornhuskers signing two other TE's in same class.

Well isn't he also possibly a DE candidate?

Not afraid of other TE's because he's Shark 2.0.

This guy will be a monster. He's like an Eifert, you can have a mediocre QB and he still excels. Just throw it up and let him get it.

Thomas Fidone, Nebraska
247Sports Composite: No. 93

Nebraska desperately needs playmakers to emerge following Wan’Dale Robinson’s transfer to Kentucky. That’s what Fidone provides. Starting tight end Austin Allen does return after catching 18 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown last season. He comes back, however, with the distinction of the Huskers’ top overall receiver, which tells you all you need to know about Nebraska’s offensive situation . A 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end with a wide receiver skillset – Fidone played on the outside as a jumbo receiver in high school – Fidone is capable of stepping in right away and making plays as a pass catcher even while he works on adding additional weight to his frame. Expect to see Fidone and Allen on the field together a lot as the Huskers attempt to get their best playmakers on the field.

Sigh..

https://247sports.com/college/nebra...ne-will-miss-time-with-knee-injury-164758972/

Freshman tight end Thomas Fidone, Nebraska’s top signee in the 2021 recruiting class, will miss time in the 2021 season after suffering a non-contact knee injury in a practice last week.

Nebraska head coach Scott Frost confirmed the injury after Wednesday’s practice. Fidone is set for surgery on Thursday.

"His last two practices were really practices good," Frost said. "Disappointed for him."

The news comes on the heels of last week’s revelation that Fidone had his best practice at Nebraska during the team’s Wednesday scrimmage. Tight ends coach Sean Beckton said things were starting to click on the practice field for Fidone.

Guessing ACL or similar
