Assume that means Dollar is going to UGA?

Unfortunately, it seems like that's the way it's trending. Georgia and ND have both invested significant time and resources into Dollar, but it feels like the ND staff is thinking Georgia at this point and has pivoted to Hawk. Unfortunate in the sense that Dollar is truly an elite prospect in my opinion, however, Hawk is at least a quality replacement if that's the direction it goes. Lots of upside with Hawk as well.

Regardless, I think ND takes Hawk to secure a quality TE, then proceeds to recruit Dollar to the bitter end on signing day. He's one of about 10 recruits in the class that ND will continue to recruit regardless of their commitment status.

in the era where scholly limits don’t exist, it’s only smart to secure a talented back up option like Hawk when you’re in a dog fight for Dollar.

Totally different TE types and don't think it has anything to do with Dollar and more to do with missing on Driver.

They want two TEs regardless. One that projects to be more conventional and one that projects to be more of a pass catcher. They were trying to get Terwilliger in the more conventional role, but he chose Penn State. Hawk is the guys they've targeted for that role, while Dollar remains their top pass catching target. Regardless, however, Hawk insulates the recruiting effort at TE of Dollar happens to choose Georgia.

As recently as a couple cycles ago, it was pretty much mandatory for Notre Dame to take two tight ends every cycle because of how much 12 personnel they ran. With the way Notre Dame has been recruiting the WR position, I don't think taking two tight ends is as important anymore. Unless they are in a specific game situation that requires two tight ends, I doubt TE2 will be as good as WR4.

I think they'd go for 2 TE's provided they're the right ones. After this year we'll likely only have 3 on the roster. My guess is that Larsen gets his degree and transfers out after this year.

Probably go Howard over Hawk, but Hawk is probably ready to commit now.

I have two thoughts:
1. Should probably take 3 TEs across 2 cycles.
2. I understand them maybe adding more bodies to the room after playing with 2 most of last year

You also have to anticipate kids are going to transfer, we recruit the position too well to expect a top 10 tight end recruit to wait until he’s a senior to contribute. It’s inevitable.
