From 1990 (a horrible game I attended where Watters or Ismail muffed seemingly every punt) to 2001, Stanford went 5-5 against ND.

Ugh the 1990 Stanford game was the first Notre Dame game I ever attended, the first time I ever walked around campus, the first pep rally where nothing felt more important than tomorrow’s game, and also, at age 12, the first time I ever heard my dad bellow the F word.

We were #1 in the country, the best damn team in the land, and then we weren’t. It was good training for the 35 years since.

Fuck Stanford.

Yeah, ND had won 27 of their last 28 games. It was a wild and heartbreaking thing to watch.

As a child, I sang, "Chuck, Chuck, bo-buck, bo-na-na fa-na fo-fuck!" and my dad freaked the fuck out. That's how I discovered that the f-word existed and that it was awesome.
