Ohio State's defense so elite that they're allowed to blatantly pass interfere.
On the ball in the end zone just now? Sure but it was such a bad play by Illinois - uninspired call, poorly executed - that they didn’t deserve a flag.

Watching Lane Kiffin’a offense get shut down by WSU just seems weird. I’d expect him to lose in a shoot out but getting shut out in the first half makes me go hmm.
And then Ole Miss puts up 10 points in 2 minutes.

UCLA up big on Sparty. Coaching change that has worked well, so far! Nico and the surfer punk OC Neuheisel good stuff.

Man, the SEC is just a whole lot of above average. I don't see a single team in there the Irish couldn't beat.

I think their depth of 9-10 win quality teams is so much better than the B10, but OSU and Oregon seem pretty obviously the best. Bama has a chance to be up there as the season goes on.

And this is the problem for us. 10-2 SEC teams will argue they should get in the playoff over a 10-2 Notre Dame, and a lot of people will agree with them. The B1G likely ends up with just three legit playoff contenders (Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana), maybe four if Michigan gets annoying. The SEC could have a pile.
But we'll see. Lots of football to play.

Might well be. Only thing giving me hope is that they've really only played the mid-tier B1G and Texas so far. I think the B1G outside the top 3-4 teams are basically trash. They looked very mortal against Texas who appear to be fraudulent.
I agree. No one is going to let Saban get away with what he said about the B1G vs the SEC but he was right. The B1G is completely top heavy a couple of great teams and then a bunch of garbage. The SEC is a much deeper conference imo.

Yeah, overall I agree. Would be interesting to match them all up. The Iowa/LSU type games in bowls, LSU is always favored, but Iowa would win.

I mean one of the best teams in the SEC is losing to Wazzu at home right now. I think both conferences are over rated. Alabama lost to a middling ACC team in FSU.

Think that was a little too aggressive by Drink. Defense has been solid.

Assuming Wazzu pulls this off would that mean that the former PAC12 was the strongest conference in college football?

I'm not arguing 1-3 SEC is better than 1-3 in the B1G, I'm arguing that 4-12 in the SEC is overall better than in the B1G. The B1G has a ton of garbage. I'm also not entirely sold on IU. I'm also not saying the SEC teams are flawless powerhouses, but schedules like OSU and PSU's are hard to come by in the SEC. Florida is on their 4th straight top 10 opponent and still have UGA, Ole Miss, and Tennessee left on the schedule.

I won't die on this hill, it's just my opinion. But I do agree there are no unbeatable super teams out there. Every team has a flaw or two.

4th straight "top 10 opponent"

While I overall agree with you, I don't love that they are all inflated so when Alabama struggles with an average Missouri team it is considered a top 15 win.

Well you have to have some metric to use. I'm open to others but those are the easiest to use despite their flaws.

We also can't have it both ways. ND is going to build their resume on their two "quality losses" but I ask who TF has aTm beaten (other than us by 1 point) to warrant a top 5 ranking? It's all circular and there's not real answer for any of it.

Are you not allowed to get the ball to pop up for onside kicks anymore? Everyone seems to squib them in the ground nowadays and the receiving team just rushes it and falls on it.
