Just listened to the II pod. O'Malley and Sampson were adamant that plenty was happening on the ND end of things but that ND was being very deliberate with what can be said and not said. They understand ND fan's perception that they are being left behind or out of it for the best guys and that's simply not the case.

In fact, going so far as to say transfer kids (both in and out) were being "incentivized" to not post anything publicly.

Also said all focus is on IU as far as what info is getting out and that win or lose next week, you'd start seeing a lot more information coming out. Obviously, MUCH more if ND loses.

Finally, they said that no names would surprise them for being in the portal outside of CJ Carr, and Bryant Young. That's just the time we live in.

I will interpret this as CJ has the inside track to start next year.

To add O'Malley said that ND is both hosting and locking up portal players.

The "incentivizing" aspect of that was what O'Malley said he would do, he didnt say that is what ND is doing.

Yikes I hope we don't lose anyone good/great. I'm sure teams are throwing all types of money at Love. I'd put Faison in there too as not transfering due to his tyes to the Lacrosse team

You have to assume someone if not many will be throwing BIG money for Love to transfer
Yeah I'm sure they are one probally being Michigan but at the end of the day if you're Love you can't find a better situation than ND. You will probally have the top OL next year and you won't have to get beat up because of the depth of the RB's

I could see Price Transferring or even a guy like Kendren Young. I think with young you are redshirtting this year and if a guy like Price transfers you will be part of 3 RB room but who knows because Payne will be back too. I think if Young is patient by year 3 him and Williams will be the lead backs. I think you will see 2-3 OL guys transferring. I don't see anyone on the defense who gets time leaving.

Nothing is a surprise. I agree you can see a few OL transferring, but I'm not sure why a guy like K. Young would. At least he can see a clear path to playing time. Love and Price would both be gone after next year and then it's you and Williams. It's not like he's been beaten out by a younger player.

The opposite is true for several OL so I can see why they'd look elsewhere.

Exactly and ND usually plays 3 backs a good amount like last year. I can see next year them using Williams more in the passing game and Young being back number 3.

One thing is there really isn’t a school that could pitch to him that they are more likely to win a NC and he should come join them for that opportunity. Not after the last 2 years of kaos.

I took the players transferring out as more or a “welcome to 2024. U just never know”

O'Malley was saying that's what he would do in terms of incentivizing players to not post things publicly. That's not necessarily what the team is doing, although it could be. We just don't know, but somehow the staff has gotten both transfers in and out to be very quiet about their intentions.

If any of the below transfer it will hurt me:
Schuler
Moore
Gray
Ausberry
Bowen
KVA
Young
Love
CJ Carr
Faison
Schauth
I think that's why it is crucial for ND to make a deep run in the playoff. It incentivizes these guys to comeback to win it all, while simultaneously allowing other teams to poach from each other as others in the top 12 get eliminated.

Some school could pay a lot for Price.
My first thought to this is that there is no way we could just one-up all of the highest offers to all of our players receiving attention from other schools, so we better hope a lot of them just want to stay for what lever reasons they have.
However, another unfortunate thing about dealing with 19-23 year olds is that they have a lot more flexibility to up and move across the country if they money meant that much to them.

The thing that really bothers me is we may lose 5 guys....So be it, but we will not be able to replace those 5 guys with equally talented guys. For instance, Price is a stud and say he goes to UGA what does ND do?? They go bring in some bum RB from Northwestern? It wouldn't bother me if they could go make a run at the Florida Gators backup......But they can't. Puts ND at a major disadvantage.

In this specific instance, I'd be good with who ND currently has on the roster and not feel a new to replace Price. Same with OL.

But, the theory would still apply at lots of other positions.

If ND is hosting visits and already wrapping things up behind closed doors I'm intrigued it seems like all the big time transfer guys are posting visits
