He’s definitely be intriguing but I’m ready to start Carr
I'm not, if he had gotten some playing time this year different story but I don't feel comfortable starting a rookie QB at Miami first game of season then against A&M two weeks later. Next years schedule is loaded. Bring in Haynes King to battle Carr, Carr I doubt would transfer he can take over next year.

So you’d feel more comfortable starting a turnover prone QB at Miami?

I guarantee a lot of the schools big money people don’t like paying for high school student s to play ball and are still on the fence about paying transfers.
Yeah, big money people didn't get big money by playing loosey goosey with their money. I still think we're another two years or so from things leveling out on NIL money.

He's got experience playing against the best in the nation. 72.5 completion % this year 1 INT this year. He is also a dual threat which I love. He would be someone who would be a better version of Leonard maybe not as great runner but better arm.

His game is very similar to Leonard’s.

I think Minchey and Carr have a better arm than both of them.

He's a good bit faster (4.47) than Leonard and throws a much better deep ball, needs to work on the short quick throws though and his mechanics when facing pressure (Hero Ball) can lead to turnovers. He looked excellent vs UGa and has lead quite a few comeback/game winning drives past two years.

At some point you are going to have to play a guy you recruited who doesn't have experience. That's how it worked before the portal
Agreed. But that doesnt mean you cant work him in with limited snaps as a backup for a year.

The starting QB at ND never plays every snap. Spot duty as a sophmore and full fledged starter as a junior is the perfect path IMO.

I think if we keep bringing in transfer QBs, we're going to really hurt our ability to actually recruit and develop somebody. Hartman and Leonard made sense, but if we did a third, why would any QB ever sign here? They know we're just not going to start them.

Is King confirmed to be in the portal or is this all speculation at the current time?

Well we actually had Coan prior to them so…

"Again, it was just a name thrown at me by a source in the business saying ND was backchanneling a group of elite guys to try and check on interest. I'm sure all of the top schools are doing it."

-Tommy Loy

In reference to Ewers.

And that’s how it needs to work now or you’re never gonna recruit a quarterback that’s worthwhile.

I don't think you can pass on Ewers if interested. He throws the best ball in CFB, loves Jesus and is SEC proven. With this OL and our RBs next year it could be the greatest show on turf. I don't want to upset Carr at all but you cannot say no to Ewers.

If you dont take a big time guy. I call Jackson Arnold and see if he wants to compete. Horrible Oline. Noone to throw to. I still love his upside. Oklahoma fans have started to see it and believe he shouldn't have ever been benched.

Ewers will have two playoff appearances under his belt. Can't turn him down if he wants to come. However, I don't think ND should go into a bidding war for his services.

If Ewers is a realistic option, I'd bid war all day long! Just like the NFL we are gonna look back at getting these guys for 5mill and be sad those days are long gone. Might as well try and get a title before they start getting 20/25 million.

It's like some of y'all don't watch football. Dudes not the answer. Same shit happened with some championing Hudson Card 2 years ago. Most on this board can't handle 1 mistake a game by Leonard. Ewers looks elite for 2 quarters then looks like a poor man's Dayne Crist the next 2 or sometimes full games.

If Carr is the qb we think/hope he is, then he should be ready to play next year. He will have had 2 Springs and 1 season under his belt. If the staff doesn’t think he’s ready, then Carr’s just not it and we have to get the best portal qb that we can get.

Carr not winning the job next year does nothing to indicate his future as a QB. Full stop.

Minchey is a very good QB and could easily beat him out, and that would do nothing to impact my belief that Carr will start and win games for ND.

IF Minchey would beat out Carr (and Angeli) next year, do you think that Carr would stick around hoping that he would beat out Minchey the following year? If he stuck around and never beat out Minchey, he would have one year to lead the Irish. I'm skeptical that scenario would ever come to pass.
