Issue is we need probally 2 WR transfers maybe 3 how are you gonna convince anyone good to come here with a rookie QB
The same way that schools like Miami and Oklahoma have gotten quality HS recruits and transfers that they had no business getting, given their on-field performance. You give them the biggest bag.

It's too early to talk about the Transfer Portal. You are all not going to hear about potential transfer targets for ND until a week into the window.

Follow the high school recruiting model. Don't get yourself too interested or too invested until you know a guy is a target.
C'mon man, speculation and bitchin about it is what we do best around here! 😂

I'd take this guy as the depth/not needed to be a stud portal option at WR: David Pantelis - 2024 - Football - Yale University

I don't think they need to go too crazy in the portal at WR. Ideally the freshman make the jump, and Greathouse and Faison continue to improve. Get this guy for depth then get a guy that can be your #1 with proven production at the P4 level.

I’m not worried about that. Sampson and O’Malley basically guaranteed that ND would bring in one of the best (if not the best) portal DT’s this off-season, and possibly a 2nd DT as well.
Love hearing this. I honestly think getting Becavqua replacing Swarbrick is a significant upgrade. He wants to win and is more modern. He gets the fact that NIL has to be factored in substantially. He also played for ND which is great. This staff combined with a real NIL program is key for long term and championship success.

Maybe ND is starting to realize that taking questionable academic football players (a la Michigan, UCLA, UNC, USC, etc) doesn't degrade your standing as an academic institution.

Id put DE pretty low on the list if Botelho comes back. Botelho, Young, Traore should all be high level power 4 starters with Logan Thomas, JT, Burgess and Burnham being able to contribute.
I'd bring one in just because of the injuries to Botelho and Traore for depth purposes. Maybe not a starter but someone for depth who could play 10-15 snaps a game.

DT (1-2), WR (2), S, CB....possibly QB and maybe DE due to injury concerns

Wasn’t it stated, I believe on ISD, that Botelho’s injury turned out to be pretty gruesome? He might not be the same again. Also thought I heard that Traore probably wouldn’t be ready for the start of the season.

11 months is a pretty long time for an ACL recovery nowadays. Not saying they'll be 100% but it's not unheard of they would be either.
11 months is plenty of time to get back on the field, assuming it was a routine injury, reconstruction, and recovery. All indications are that Botelho's situation is far from that. Best case: clean tear, surgery, recovery (Traore as far as we know), you can certainly be on the field by month 11. BUT, think about all that was missed, including all of spring, summer workouts, and possibly some of fall camp. We need DEs.

I think a fully healthy Burnham would be in that top group. He's been hampered this year but the staff and media felt strongly about him in the preseason. Credit to the guy for playing through his injury too, we've needed it.

One or two DTs, two WRs, One or two corners, maybe a safety, definitely a kicker. Can't really think of any other needs.
