This season is going to a total mess between Ivey’s non-existent HS recruiting and admissions office being a bunch of pricks about transfers

As an aside: old heroine Jackie Young just set an all-time WNBA record for most points in a quarter (21) in an Aces win.

Addenda: Looked at our incoming roster: we might be able to score given Hannah and three of the transfers looking like c. 10ppg type players, plus Cassandra. Can't see how we're going to rebound though. Being in the ACC --> middling season.

I read the results of an interview that someone just had with Hannah. She said several sorts of things that were interpretable as interesting.
A. When asked about last year's team (and its disappointments) she was (as in all her answers) pretty much "coach-speak", but a few things were subtly present. She generically praised all her last year teammates, but specifically mentioned only Soni and Liatu. I believe that she truly only respected those two of the people who are no longer here.
B. The two questions specifically asked her about Miles were answered with generic politeness and about as short as possible.
C. She claimed to be optimistic about this year's roster as everyone was hustling every practice (... so ... last year NOT everyone hustling?)
D. About the chances of playing under Kara Lawson in the Olympics: Big enthusiasm, as Lawson is the best/cleverest coach that she has been around ( ... and Ivey is .... ?)

Hopefully that last one was just spurting out praise without including her own coach in the comment. But maybe not. (I myself agree that Lawson is the best.)

Someone must’ve gotten into Niele’s ass, because she is quietly putting together a really good 2026 class. Amari Byles committed today, making it a 3 person class. All 3 will come with length.

Jenica Lewis is another one to keep an eye on. Seems like a tough pull out of Iowa, but there are some (including this twitter handle) that have predicted her to end up at ND.

Ivey has to really hustle this year recruiting in both ways (high school and college), because if Hannah goes pro, there might not be even TWO current players remaining.

A quick search on twitter suggests she’s headed to ND.

The women’s team kicks off their season tonight against FDU. Would be nice if they could get 20 wins this year.
My impression is that most suspect that Bjorn and Lewis will go to Iowa. I guess they are really close friends.

I like our chances more if Bjorn would choose Kansas. I haven’t seen any serious speculation that Bjorn will choose ND but who knows.

I just saw this tweet and that’s all I need to see. This is a reliable source for WBB recruiting. This tweet probably means Jenica to ND.

Irish got the win yesterday. Very strange, ND only rotated 6 players. Mikayla Fowles nor Iyana Moore played. When asked about it, Ivey said it was intentional, seeming to indicate it wasn’t injury related. There’s no way you can go through the season with a rotation without Moore and Fowles. Again very strange to my eyes.

Moore and Cowles were ruled out ahead of the game due to injury.

Yes. Fowles and Moore better have smallish injuries and the Ivey-speak poorly phrased. (Just say that they needed a little more time with their injuries, dammit. "Intentional" opens the gate for "disciplined.") So, if that, then why didn't The Holy Cross (?) transfer play more than garbage time. I believe she averaged over 10ppg there. Why "Iron Five" it with the starters? (Also don't like the possibility of having only one true rebounder. But ... first game ... blowout ... )

I'm not sure how much run the starters have had together in practice in 5-on-5 scenarios to this point with the roster as it is and the injury situation. I didn't watch the game, but there's a reasonable argument to be made to treat it as a scrimmage to get those players time on the court together against live bodies.

We need all of them ... and all to "hit" immediately. (I'm assuming Hannah goes pro.)
