Maybe we’ll be surprised.

He also mentioned this:
“Our news-gathering partners at WSBT-TV are expecting another addition soon. ND has two guards set to visit this week in USC freshman Kayleigh Heckel and Vanderbilt junior Iyana Moore. Of those two and the three who signed, Heckel is the only one that has multiple years of eligibility. The imminent addition may have two years. There's a third prospect who might visit this week as well, but it's not been finalized.”

Wonder if SEC conference rule about transferring in conference only applies to football?

My understanding is that the rule does not apply to SEC schools in Women’s Basketball.

But ND lost out on an elite post player in this transfer cycle in which there was mutual interest who's in the same class as Moore but wasn't a match based on transfer credits.

Anyone know the player?

I still didn't really learn much. And I believe that no one posting (including the OP chat-man) understood the twin problems (last season) of terrible defending by Miles and Westbeld (defense-leads-to-offense CAN'T work well enough if only 60% of the team are playing defense), and inability of the coach to adjust to the opponent philosophy of heavy trapping on the ball screen on Miles and Hidalgo. Both of these point to coaching failures and player deficiencies. --- and both correctable.

It is definitely NIL, whether directly or indirectly. Jeff Walz recently gave an interview where he talked about a transfer target who was on campus but declined their offer because they had been offered $300k to go elsewhere. So that is th direct situt. Indirectly, people (players, parents, agents, etc) see stories like that and think they just need to find the right school to get playing time, and then the year after they can cash-in, too.

My awareness of the sad fact that other teams have transfer problems too, is (heavily) still agitated by my awareness that many other powers do NOT, and especially not to the extent that it empties their team. There are a few mass exoduses, but I don't want to be one of them, .... ever. ... I WANT to live a happy cheerful existence, but I can't on NDWBB just now. ... very bad at whistling in the dark.

Nope. ND WBB is well compensated up and down the roster. Players are also well connected in terms of agencies and outside deals. It doesn't all come from the NIL pot.

If we are able to land Moore and Heckel that provides pretty good talent and depth at both guard positions and allows Cass and KK to play rotationally at the 3 spot (probably with KK also moving into the 2 spot at times). Would love to add another starter level big and would feel pretty good about the roster.

Also, to clarify it's less to do with "admissions" than it has to do with the particular college she would be transferring into. Might seem to many to be a distinction without a difference...but there can be a pretty big one.

So is Notre Dame’s big problem with all these athletes the fact that many of them trying to come from other schools are taking broad general study majors that don’t really translate over any majors ND offers?

Some yes. Some no. It can be REALLY complicated and can even vary school to school.

Hell, Riley Leonard came from Duke and had to transfer in as a Theatre major.

I have read/heard more than once that it is often not ND’s general admissions that end up being the roadblock for transfers but it is the individual schools within ND that are rigid with their requirements.

Yes indeed……it’s kind of like having to get through two sets of requirements which I guess is the case for many schools, it just so happens that ND is often more stringent.

Heckel would be valuable, but Avery Howell was the transfer gem from that team.

I would have felt MUCH better if we would have gotten her.
