We held them to 3.3 yds/carry roughly, on their Rb’s. Excluding the QB carries and sacks. 7.6 yds/att for Shea. It was defensive masterpiece by ND. Overall they avg/1.8 yds/carry. And sacked him 3 times. That didn’t happen today.

This is a total Ian Book supporter thing to say. We won that game on some many levels. Not just one one “50/50” ball. Sorry bro. This is getting in deep on not knowing what actually happened.

It was a D masterpiece no doubt. Go back an check my post when I was hype on BW improving..... I called the 50/50 balls lucky, and the penalties lucky immediately during the game, and immediately after. Has zero to do with Book.

I get it but everyone does 50/50 balls. They aren’t lucky. Heck, one of Book’s biggest throws, last week, was a 50/50 ball to Boykin up the sideline on 3rd down.

It doesn’t make it less impressive.

What does that even mean. That was one play. He was good enough by plenty that night. He was good enough overall to win that game. And, this has nothing to do with him. He was good enough to beat that vanuted defense and he did a good job at that. If we want to nitpick his performance, then let’s do the same for all QB’s involved. That’s what we’re talking about. This ain’t Wimbush vs Book. It’s did we win that game outright. Yes we did.

Wimbush won that game for this team, period.

Book deserves his accolades and he deserves his criticisms. That’s all. It works both ways. Book throws 50/50 balls all the time. Which is good.

My point is, OC is calling plays not to the strengths of the QBs. Both of them. When he does call plays that they are good at (adjustments in the last two halves), we do well. We are getting off tangent tho like you said. Still in the spot that Book was not perfect, but he was great at what he does well, not good at what he doesn't, and improved in some of those areas (long balls).
