The Brent to safety talk confuses me. Yes he's athletic enough. But he may be probably our best young WR prospect and we need those too.
I kind of wonder if we wouldn't have been better off sticking with Prosise at safety and Onwualu at WR, but the ship has probably sailed on both of those.
If we're going to move someone from O to D, why not someone from the super-deep younger classes of offensive linemen? Thinking either Mustipher or Montelus.

I was thinking Luatua to the defensive line, if he can provide a pass rush. How much tick is he going to get now that Alize is committed (assuming he's as good as advertised). I know they're different types of TEs but I think it's fair to assume Alize will take a lot of snaps at the tight end position on both running and passing downs in the next three years. Smythe gives them a good change of pace as an inline blocker and Weisher provides depth.

Don't get me wrong, I think Luatua could be valuable to the offense if they commit to power spread, downhill running game. But if we're only going to use him sparingly as a blocker or H back, I'd rather see him on defense. IIRC, he was a great OLB in high school but he's filled out and I think DE would be a good place for him if he can get to the QB. He's got a strong base and he's an above average athlete for his size. It looks like he'd set the edge with some authority and he'd have enough athleticism to beat OTs one on one in pass rushing situations. The switch would also let Rochelle take more reps as a 3 tech, which seems like a more natural position for him.

Just spitballin' here.
